Around the dinner table, the conversation was lively. Thank you but for now, the forum has been archived.
What's the significance of the Z? I mean, not that it matters at this stage. A million theories have shrivelled into nothing. Red balloons? The statue? Bushnell boxing etc...
Polish names. Many have Zs in their name. Pretty much as common as "h" - and serves a similar function at times - in English.
One of my best friends is Ryszard Marczinski, another pal is Rob Sczerba. A lot of Polish families in the UK, particularly in and around Sheffield.
I think Bushnell's boxing was deliberate midirection, although he did look a little like Chester Desmond in that pic. Chet was no slouch at fisticuffs, either, as in The Missing Pieces.
Red balloons may yet be significant but perhaps it's the colour itself and not the objects. Then again, it could be Lynch giving the bird to the old saw that all photos should have something red in the frame. I say "Lynch" rather than "Frost and Lynch", since DL directed and most likely called the shots (pun intended) on what was in the scene.
I am Polish and I like these little accents in TP. I just wonder - why Las Vegas? There is strong polish or polish ancestors conmunity in US but from what I know it's mostly NY, Chicago, state of Washington maybe too (Ronette Pulaski!) but Las Vegas?:) But hey, why not? It's not only about the casinos and entertainment, normal life also happens in Vegas ( as we witnessed, but is it normal...?).
Yes ur right about Z in polish language , it often goes with S, R, C and in that case it changes the pronounciation so it goes like "Shimon".
In the last decade Lynch really befriended Poland, especially the city of Łódź that is like the polish capital of film industry. He became sort of patron for film festival Camerimage and made parts of Inland Empire in Łódź using polish actors - the good ones, not soap operas:)
And last but not the least he got big plans regarding Łódź cause he wanted to buy very climatic old factory and transform it into film studio. Considering the international setting of Twin Peaks I cannot help but imagine that part of it coulda be made in Poland! That would've been so exciting but... well these stupid motherfu**** politicians, I don't even know or care from which side, made it inpossible for him:(
Anyway during credits roll after each episode you can see a logo " Fundacja Sztuki Świata". This is the foundation of Lynch and his polish friend aiming to open this studio/film centre.
