Around the dinner table, the conversation was lively. Thank you but for now, the forum has been archived.
Dale left the ring in the hospital under the pillow.
Wtf
The note must say "Gordon the ring is under the pillow."
But Gordon know not of the ring.

Wait I missed this ... they showed Coop putting it under the pillow?

Why must the note to Gordon be about the ring?
I suspect he has it, but interesting idea. Seems pretty clear that Mike wants Dale to use the ring to bring Mr. C back. I wonder what Gordon would do with it.
So how did the Dougie Jones Jannie-e ring get into Briggs gut?
Soon Gordon et al will have both rings.
I assumed he put it under the pillow to hide it until he had his clothes on, and that he then slipped it in a pocket at some point. Though, you are right to point out we did not see this happen.
I missed this part completely and thought that Agent Cooper had the ring and may use it to put on Mr. C. But it makes complete sense that he would abandon the ring, and Phillip Gerard is wrong here to have people taking the ring, he is under the influence of his detached arm which makes deals with BOB above the convenience store. Gerard tries to be good, but because he only cut off his arm, which roams around and still deals with BOB, he fluctuates between black lodge and red room only, and in the world he goes back to evil ways without chemicals, thanks to the arm.....That ring is to respect the deal with BOB(made above the convenience store at the formica table), to basically accept the world as black lodge/convenience store, then present it as good, or try to lessen the harm by hiding, etc., but not really trying to tackle the real antagonism...basically accepting the world as forever rotten and under the rule of BOB/woodsmen/Mr. C.....
Still Agent Cooper should have destroyed the ring, someone is going to find it and be captivated....then will say 'lets rock'....To me something still seems off with Agent Cooper, he is too soft, and maybe this is because Mr C is still out there taking away something from Cooper so that he is still to tender towards the world like Dougie. Cooper was nice to the Mitchums, called them good, etc., its one thing to pay back debts and recognize what they did, then part ways, but he seemed to genuinely be 'in' with them as if because they were nice to him that they are somehow not a criminal organization destroying lives systematically in that town.....and also he told Sonny Jim that he was his father...very wrong move imo, he is not, and Dougie is his rightful father, regardless of the temporary pain, its going to be an issue down the line anyway for all concerned, better to start right now instead of compounding the problem as time goes on....maybe he knew he was leaving anyway and it would not matter much, but still to say it out loud is one thing, he should have just sidestepped the question with something like 'everything is alright', etc.
I agree with Caemeron, I think Cooper stuck it under his pillow, and would not trust that a hospital worker stripping his bed would get it and put it on, not knowing its powers.
I think Cooper must have slipped it into his pocket and we just didn't see it. I don't think Mike is bad at all. I think he is a force for good. He has been trying to run interference for Coop this whole time. He saved Coop's life by giving Bradley Mitchum the dream about the cherry pie and getting Dougie to buy the cherry pie. He's pleaded with Dougie/Coop to wake up. He's going to make another seed for more tulpas. He's a friend.
Mike helped Laura, and Mike helped Cooper ( original series ). His goal in being out in our world was to stop Bob.
Cooper knows what the ring is for, likely he'll put it on the doppelganger to send it & Bob back into the BL.
Wasn't there a scene in fire walk with me that was cut or in the missing pieces where a nurse in the hospital puts on the ring???

Yes, a nurse attending to Annie stole the ring from her finger and put it on her own!
I don't know if it was in FWWM or MP as I watched the fanedit combining the two.

I like Murat's points that suggest Mike helps, but through his paradigm based on a previous life as an evil entity and one who largely resides in the black. To me, the ring has always seemed evil and Mike seems to be the only one who understands its power.
Also, Cooper told Laura to NOT take the ring. We didn't learn why or what the implication was of her putting it on, but Cooper thought it better that she not do so. At this point, I think Cooper's understanding of what Laura is will be the key to "solving" whatever the heck is going on.
