Around the dinner table, the conversation was lively. Thank you but for now, the forum has been archived.
Now we've heard it both at The Great Northern and in the Las Vegas hospital. It seemed to be luring Bushnell out of there. So what possible reason could the humming sound have for The Great Northern?
Maybe Mike is communicating with Mrs. Houseman and her New York friends at the Great Northern - thus causing the hum
Seems to me there is a connection with Coop waking up and Audrey waking up. We hear the hum in the hospital where Coop wakes up and in the Great Northern where maybe Audrey is or will be when she wakes up?
I've assumed the humming was ominous, but this episode indicated that it doesn't have to be. Dale's waking up, well...do I even need to insult everyone's intelligence and state THAT'S GOOD??? So maybe it does have something to do with Audrey coming to, and maybe it is good.
It seems, if nothing else, to elicit a desire on people's parts to follow it to find its source. Maybe that is its purpose! It led James to that door. Sure wish I know what he saw there.
I think the humming is a good sign, or it at least it draw some people along.
IMPORTANT: It's not exactly the same audio, but it's pretty much the same sound we hear when first meeting the Giant/Fireman back in Season 2. So it has something to do with the Fireman. If it lured Bushnell away for a little bit, it gave MIKE the opportunity to talk with Cooper.*
Also, it's rooted on a pitch of about 430 hz. Though maybe the fact that Diane got that text at 4:32 (16:32 on her phone) is more closely connected with 430?? Anyway, I think the ringing sound bodes well.
*God. Ain't it refreshing to just call him "Cooper" finally? And that sneaky devil was even doing detective work in the lodges all this time! But the emotion I felt during his Cooperesque speech to Janet/Sonny never would have come if we had had Dale Coooer from the start. I am very happy with how they brought him back so slowly.

I'm wondering if the humming in the Great Northern and the hospital are happening concurrently - i haven't pieced together all the scrambled timelines, has anybody else and is this possible?
Coop waking up, his KEY arriving home in time for his own return home?

I originally thought it was the key that was humming. I keep wondering though, what's in Audrey's crawl space? Could it be coming from there? I can't remember if I heard it when James investigated the basement... Must re-watch.

I LOVE knowing that Cooper has awareness of a lot of what is going on in the Black Lodge, and you're right, he has been doing some detective work in the past 25 years. He told the Giant/Fireman that he understands about the 3 clues. He and MIKE are certainly working together. Now I just wonder if Cooper knows what "IT" is, when he replies to the Giant/Fireman telling him "It is in our house now."

There was definitely humming when James was in the basement, looking at that door with the gold handle.
Okay! So the colour gold is good/ white lodge:
- gold portal near jackrabbits place
- The Log turning gold
- the seeds; people are born "good" so after they die they revert back to pure
- "hearts of gold"
- gold door handle

I agree! So what does silver mean? And green?
"Green is its color"

I thought the "it" was the arm/ Dopple-arm as the electricity sound with its appearance in the waiting room seemed the same as on the record player with The Fireman.

Not sure. I just thought that James was in an especially good mood after his encounter at The Great Northern, when at at the roadhouse, so it ties in nicely with the gold door handle.
The humming sound is Mike!! It's always Mike or the arm! I am still putting all my money on that bet!
