Around the dinner table, the conversation was lively. Thank you but for now, the forum has been archived.
I have nothing agaist Chrysta or her acting. I think she's great. That was not my point. I just felt that the whole thing of her character accepting the story about the tulpa was a little rushed. A little bit too easy. Like as if DL thought "just get this over with, it's not that important" when i wrote the script. Just like Gordon Cole's phonecall to Frank Truman.
It does read like an afterthought, which I don't ever expect from Lynch.
Tammy's disappearance freaked me out. She should have been in the frame. I'm afraid either she or Albert might be up to something. Maybe one of them is the enemy that Cole wants to keep close? I hope not.
I started to like the character and Bell's interpretation, although I disliked it at first. There's a little bit of Audrey in her (the S.A. she could never become 🙁 ), and of Cooper, too. Bell's mannerisms remind me of an old silent movie star, which I think is intentional, or at any rate very befitting to Lynch's aesthetics.
She didn't disappear, just moved her chair to the right to get her gun…she was pretty quick about it, too!

Exactly. I re-watched the scene in slow-motion and made several screenshots. So, here you can see that Tammy is slowly moving to the left - as we now know, to reach for her gun...
Now, there's her chair, barely visible on the left, but still visible.
And, finally, she's back where he was, firing at Diane alongside Albert.
Sorry for multiple posts - I couldn't find a way to attach several screenshots to a single post!
I think I'm one of the very few who really likes Tammy Preston.. I actually see her as very much a "next generation Dale Cooper." She's super intelligent, very quirky and weird, definitely a "Girl Scout" vibe, and absolutely gorgeous. Sounds like how some fans would have described Cooper 25 years ago, right?
Tammy's alright by me. She doesn't have an emotional attachment to this people like you'd expect from people who know them for 25 years. She's excited but trying to remain very professional, and it seems like she spent most of her time before this doing research from books and maps.
Never understood why people hate Tammy.
Well, actually I can hazard a guess why some people hate her but I'm not prepared to go into a sociological diatribe :/
I thought her response was fine.
Can't comment on her disappearance as I didn't notice it.
The only thing about this episode that felt a little bit cheesy was Tammy's reaction (or acceptance if you will) to this whole tulpa thing. If I had been in her position, I would have been completely shocked to what I just witnessed.
Her reaction just came across as a bit lame and... How do one put it? Easily done by the director? Or maybe that's just me.
I dunno. She's just heard a horrific rape story. A horrific deception. Her reaction is 'oh wow, a tulpa!' WTF!?
I bloody love Tammy & have nothing but praise for Chrysta Bell's performance.
This.

Well, she's an FBI agent with some experience, I'd expect her to be more or less accustomed to hearing shocking stories. Besides, she didn't know Dale Cooper like Gordon, Albert, or we the fans do, so Diane's story might not sound too shocking for her.
But seeing a person disappearing right before her eyes and knowing that all this mad stuff about tulpas and so on was true must have been really something for such a down-to-earth and no-nonsense person as Tammy.
People are critical of Tammy's response and all Cole said was "Sheriff's station?" Did you want her to act hysterical? Did you want her to cry? Did you want her to freak out? Why don't you want Cole to express any remorse?
They are FBI agents and likely already guessed what Cooper did when he visited Diane.
How about this: Tammy handled it cooly and calmly like one would hope any male FBI special agent would. She even used her super-freaky-flash speed to jump out of frame and retrieve her weapon before returning to exactly the same spot next to Albert before firing. I'd like to see one of YOU do that!

These! Not to mention, her and Albert's reactions, initially, are nearly identical.
