I agree - also I think the Mitchum Bros. are not long for this world - taking the statement from the Log Lady that her log is turning into gold, perhaps it is foreshadowing the Mitchum Bros.?
He wasn't interested in them and there's no indication they know his whereabouts or intentions. Perhaps he could call them if he wants - not needs - assistance.
A big clue regarding the idea of the Mitchum brothers being tulpas was the scene in the car.

There's another thread on here, discussing the idea that the Mitchums are tulpas. One thing we know is, they - tulpas - all have a gold bead/seed as a sort of repository for their soul. Hearts of gold... well, if they - the Mitchums - are tulpas, they'd have 'em. And, we're already halfway believing there's something "other" about Candie, so it's not too much of a stretch to think, of all people, she'd be the one to know.

Quite possibly. We know the Fireman plays the long game and we know time works differently for the supernaturals. So, why not have backup in place, just in case it's needed?
