high school senior me was totally frustrated with the end of S2 .  Adult me decided to watch the return with greaaaaaaaat hesitation .... I now have hope this will be the ending of all endings .... I truly hope Lynch went into this with plans for this to be his 1 chance to tell the story he wanted.  I don't necessarily need closure on EVERYTHING but please please no cliffhanger!

Nawww ... there's no guarantee Sho will continue another season.  That's why I hope Lynch approached this as his chance to tell the story he wanted.  If another season happens... great!  Just don't hinge a cliffhanger on it.

I vote for cliffhanger. Closure, especially in a story this complex, could never satisfy.

I actually have hope for closure (which I didn't before tonight).

The fact that it's being telegraphed that Cooper may create another Dougie Jones for Janey-E and Sonny Jim makes me think we might actually get closure elsewhere.

I'm with you on a cliffhanger.  A cliffhanger, destined to be resolved or not, would keep this world forever alive, forever keeping us asking questions.

My cliffhanger prediction is this.. a body discovered in the final scene.  Ala Laura Palmer in the very first episode of Twin Peaks.  Implying the doppelgänger may be defeated, but is Bob still on the loose?

The whole season has been filled with teases and cliffhangers.

If there isn't closure after next week when he's planted so many seeds with the slim (to none) chance of another season, this season is a waste. A waste for storytelling BUT people would talk about it so much it would generate more viewers and empty hope for closure....Just like after season 2 (however I feel that season had closure).

I imagine there will be loose ends at the end of The Return, with some kind of resolution in the Final Dossier coming out in October.

We will definitely get closure elsewhere but I'm not so sure that we'll get closure on the mythology and such. The Lodge battles will rage on as will the Blue Rose Task Force.

Unfortunately not it appears. Frost has said it bridges the gap between the old series and the new.

Yep. I'm anticipating back stories for Jeffries, Diane, Mr C, etc.

It depends what hangs off the cliff. I don't expect all the loose ends tied up. But I hope it's not like the end of season 2.

Yes thank you!  I'm good with "loose ends" just no obvious final scene cliffhanger
