Around the dinner table, the conversation was lively. Thank you but for now, the forum has been archived.
I agree with you. Not to get political, but how could Lynch have known the direction humankind seems to have turned in our recent reality when he filmed Twin Peaks? He clearly made a commentary on that, intentional or not. I was obviously naive to believe that times had changed.
And YES, I'll watch Pulp Fiction!
I had a morbid fascination with these two and their unquestionable affection despite the incestuous vibe and sleeping around [...]
Incestuous? They are - were - husband and wife.
Yes (but was that confirmed? I don't remember), however at first we did not know that, and I remember some comments about the fact that they looked and acted like siblings. Hutch even encouraged Chantal to kiss Mr. C. When later it became more probable that they were married, that first idea stuck with me. I know there's a joke that "hillbillies" are notorious for marrying their cousins - I would not know for sure, not being from the USA, I don't want to offend anyone! - but it wasn't just that. Tim Roth's acting was good enough to suggest to me several nuances in their relationship. I'm glad he had a relatively important part, he definitely wasn't wasted on TP. (Insert "wasted" pun.)

I'm positive Jeff Foxworthy could not have written Hutch & Chantel's lines nor crafted their ill-defined relationship any better. His "family reunion" jokes (numbering in the 1000s, I'm sure) would elevate H&C to celeb status.
Aside: I wish Hutch and Chantel were their own show somehow, in some way. Incredible chemistry, if hard to precisely put one's finger on.
Yes, it was confirmed, way back at the beginning. Mr C specifically asks Chantal to get her husband. Next time we see her, she's with Hutch.

Same way I knew, I suspect. Just keeps watching and listening, reads the papers and all that. Although, it's not really a direction, as such, it's just a continuation of how things have been for a long time.
Pulp Fiction? You won't regret it. Possibly one of the best movies ever made.

I could see a great and hilarious TV show with both the Mitchum brothers and the Fusco brothers. And of course Candie, Sandie, and Mandie would have to be along.
The accountant got 'em. They went out in a blaze of glory. She should have just moved the car. I didn't see that coming.
Hi buttercup,
Hat-tip to Tarantino! 😉

I totally saw it coming. That was pure Tarantino. Set up exactly as Tarantino would have. Non-sensical, violent and brilliant.
Hi shrrrrrrrrrrk,
Didn't see you post until after I posted. Had the exact same idea! 😉
Damned hurricane Lee HARVEY Oswald has me way behind on my welcometotwinpeaks reading! Dammit. >:-(

I know I can google it,. but I haven't. Is Chantal the same actor who plays Daisy in The Hateful 8? She has the same voice so my money is ON.
Yes, the actress is Jennifer Jason Leigh, one of the best actresses of her generation

Oh, thanks, I hadn't made the connection. The time for a massive binge from the beginning is approaching fast...
