Around the dinner table, the conversation was lively. Thank you but for now, the forum has been archived.
He used to be this mysterious badass back in the Original and in the Return's early episodes.
Now he's basically a representative of some major tulpa manufacturer being pushed around...
"Do you have the seed?" "You gotta make me another one.."
"Someone manufactured you.." -- "I know, fuck you!"
Love Al Strobels acting, though.
I have thought it odd that he doesn't appear to roam out and about outside of the Red Room in human form anymore. But, I think his role is far greater than a tulpa factory. He seems to be influencing a lot of events.
I didn't interpret Coop asking Mike to manufacture another Dougie as a command necessarily, but mutually understood gesture that Mike probably had foreseen or expected anyway.
As for Diane('s tulpa) statement to Mike, that's Diane being Diane, IMO. The look on Mike's face said it all. I was LMAO.

He spoke in the same tone against Bushnell... It's not meant to sound bossy, but steadfast...

Yes. He spoke to the doctor in the same matter-of-fact manner as well.
I love Al Strobels acting myself, particularly his dramatic voice, and I got to hear it in person many times.
His step daughter was my live in girl friend for about 6 years and I got to know him a little bit during that time and afterwards. (some good stories)
I moved away form the Pacific Northwest about 13 years ago, so i haven't seen him in a long time but I am still friends with my old GF and plan to ask some questions after this is over.
It's been a pleasure to see him get such a large/important role again and I'm very happy for him.
I don't know if he will answer my questions but if you have any good ones please pass them on to me.
Very cool, dok_gruber!

Oh, hooray! At long last someone who knows the difference. I get accused of pushing people around all the time, simply because I'm to the point and not mealy mouthed.
Mike has emerged this season as one of my favorite characters. He seems patient and gentle. I hope he doesn't turn out to have mixed allegiances, as some here suspect.

Totally agree re tone to Mike and Bushnell. I did think he sounded pretty bossy to Janey-E, though, when he told her to move over because he was going to drive.

Not necessarily mixed, as such. I believe he's doing all this through self interest and pragmatism, though. My understanding is, he realizes, as does Coop, the Fireman and most of the others, for that matter, the need for balance. Whatever their ultimate allegiances, they understand the things Mr C (and possibly Bob) are doing are having serious repercussions and need to be stopped.
Imagine it this way:
You have a lake stocked with fish. You care for the fish, keep their environment safe for them, and yet, you let people catch the fish there. So long as the people catching the fish have a permit and are using the right equipment and follow the rules about how many fish they are allowed to catch, how they are treated after, you're happy. The fish ain't too pleased about it but overall it's probably a better life than otherwise.
Now, someone comes along with a great big net and starts taking all the fish, and what's worse, they don't even have a permit... and they're pissing in the lake, too.
That's the situation now.

Haha exact same here. In fact only a few minutes ago somebody in my office was telling me that I am mean. But really I'm just to the point and fairly flat affect about a lot of things. People apparently think I'm mean because I don't use baby voices or tip toe around things.
Anyhow, that is exactly how I saw Cooper. He was flat, tot he point, not time to coddle the listener. The information needed to be communicated in the most parsimonious way. And Mike, I think he's just massively stressed out because things are going right and he seems to be trapped.
P.s., who is pissing my lake?!

Hopefully, nobody... if Coop and the gang get their collective arses in gear.
I totally do. Even when this season we could approach more to the the Black and White Lodges, I think the waiting room was delegated and MIKE for me was just like the manager. We were not able to appreciate more the acting of Al Strobels. I guess there will be more in the last parts.

Yes, that sounds right. I really like the fishing analogy?
He seems to have the same cocnerned look on his face that the Fireman shows. Something is most definitely wrong. Whatever dissonance permeates the lodge worlds has seeped into ours,or vice versa. And all over cans in a convenience store?
There's also the weird question of why these entities seem to enjoy possession and rape so much. I mean let's assume for a moment that you or I wound up travelling through some future-tech vortex and wound up in a more primitive world populated by other lifeforms. Let's say a planet inhabited by friendly jellyfish. What would make me say "oh man, I gotta possess you and get me some of them jellyfish women!!!" Assuming I had physical urges like that, wouldn't it stand to reason there'd be something else I ought to be copulating with?
The whole thing gets really, really weird.
