Around the dinner table, the conversation was lively. Thank you but for now, the forum has been archived.
It might be nothing but.
Twin Peaks always used the iconic Morely cigarettes prop. Even in these season Richard smokes Morley. we see it when he bribes Chad.
It also might register with us viewers as a bad sign because it's iconic use in the X files.
But Diane is smoking American Spirit.
In a show where native american symbols good and wholesome.
I would love to know why Lynch and Frost didn't go for Morley with Diane.
I didn't think about it because Lynch has been using American Spirits as props since at least Mulholland Drive. His brand, I am pretty sure (did he quit, though, or just Gordon Cole?), and mine, for what it's worth.
Interesting to think about, but I don't know how much to read into it. Sarah Palmer smokes Salems, apparently.
I think it is more along the line of the way that the kind of cigarettes a person smokes tells you something about that person. What does it tell you? Hard to say. Something, though.
Similar to how a person takes their coffee.
I think they want us to still like who ever is on the screen at that moment.
American Spirit is David's brand.
What do you mean? It's a real brand.
I think that since, in this series, some people are more real than others, it's perfectly appropriate to mix fictional and real-life brands.
American Spirit is David's brand.
What do you mean? It's a real brand.
The brand he smokes.
Maybe it's the brand Laura Dern smokes and she's all "uh uh, no way, you are not taking my Spirits from me. This is what I smoke, deal with it. Fuck you Lynch."
The Morley moment with Chad freaked me out. Where has that prop ever shown up anywhere except X-files. Chad = CGB Spender. Should have seen his demise coming from the beginning.

Very interesting indeed.
So the Morley's may all be homage to Hitchcock.....
I actually did a wiki lookup on this same subject back around week 6 after hearing someone else suggest that Morley was a common brand seen throughout the arts.
Should have given her Red Apples, it would have gone well with the Chantal and Hutch scene. In fact, they should have been getting their burgers from Big Kahuna.
Sam,
Wow I was slow, had to look it up before it clicked!
