I just can't get over the thought that Sonny Jim and Janey-E are manufactured. How else do you explain that owl flying overhead when we meet them!?!? Maybe Diane had indeed been real at some point, but Mr. C did something to her--sent her spirit off to some lodge--and Good Cooper (who apparently knows how to use seeds to "manufacture" people) built a Sonny Jim and Janey-E to await him, his son (Richard) and his true love (Diane)??
All this time, I was thinking Sonny Jim and Janey-E were reincarnations of 119 woman and her son, but when I realized that the old woman in the casino had been reunited with her son, I realized that mothers and sons have just been an ongoing theme here.

I don't think Cooper was ever in love with Diane - as we know, he loved Caroline, and then Annie. Diane was a trusted colleague and a friend.
