Numerology theory says that the number 8 is a karmic equalizer, both creative and destructive.
Someone on here suggested the Dutchman was a jail and that Jeffries was locked up (Cooper had to let the jailer open the door). 8=jail. Or secured locked area.

I like the prison theory. Seems to me that "control" is Mr. C's end game.
Eight (infinite symbol) is like a blue rose i think. Something that goes beyond the material appearence. Like Jeffries's room in which he can appear and disappear, it's a place without psysical limits.
I like the way numerology is kind of narrating Jeffries evolution. He came out from an elevator with number "7" on it in FWWM, and now he is in room number 8. He's not human anymore, he reached something else
I noticed this at the time, but as usual with Twin Peaks by the time Frost/Lynch burned out my retinas I'd completely forgotten about it until I saw this thread
