Purpose of dubbing a new Phillip Jeffries voice?

Alright hear me out on this one. Why in the world would they need to dub Bowie's original FWWM scenes with a voice actor? It makes sense for the new evolution of Jeffries (for lack of knowing if it really is Jeffries) to have a different voice actor. But the FWWM scenes did not need changed. This should be a red flag. I think Lynch is doing this on purpose to make the reveal of the real Bowie that much more shocking. I think that the Jeffries we saw in this episode and throughout the series is not really him at all. Especially with all of the doubt from Ray and even Mr. C on whether or not it's really him. It's possibly someone posing as him or it's his doppelganger. I still think Bowie can make an appearance and the real Jeffries will be revealed. It just strikes me as so odd that they would dub the FWWM scenes like that.

I did notice in Part 15, they went out of their way to make the dub noticeably bad.  I do not think that is a mistake at all.  Making the voice match the mouth is very easy with Vocalign.  It's an artistic choice.  The reason, we don't know yet.

This is definitely something I forgot to touch upon. This is intentional. Lynch knows people read the credits. I'm fairly certain he is setting something up and it is going to blow our minds.

I would love for that to be the reason, but I'm not going to hold out any hope.  I did find it a bit odd that the 'voice of Jeffries' sounded so different - and I'm sure there's some purpose for that, but I don't know what.  It's interesting that it cropped up around the same time as Freddy (where the actor is really a Cockney, but speaks in a ridiculous way)

Though I'm really not good with accents and probably sound exactly like Groundskeeper Willie! 🙂

Also why is he credited as the "voice" of Jeffries and not just Phillip Jeffries? That's another thing that is extraneous and doesn't need to be clarified in that way... unless Lynch wants us to think of it in a certain way... and I didn't know about the different accent thing, there's so many English accents it's hard to not umbrella them together. Haha

I would love nothing more than to be set up for a later Bowie reveal, but my read is this: they couldn't film Bowie in time, came up with the Jeffries-as-insulator-bell device which required someone else to voice it, and then overdubbed the FWWM footage for consistency's sake.

In order to believe that this kettle is not Jeffries, you also have to accept that the spirit-in-the bell coordinated this trickery with the woodsman (who led Bad Coop here upon request to see Jeffries). And that would require further dramatic explanation as to who this power-wielding Jeffries-impersonator is.

I just think the voice actor did a poor job of it.
