Around the dinner table, the conversation was lively. Thank you but for now, the forum has been archived.
Ed, her loyal customers (twin peaks), thats how i read it. BUT: my mind also went to the error in the Frost Twin Peaks book (it describes a completely different mother/father of Norma than the one we met in S2) and for which Frost said that it is not an error and that we will have to "wait and see". So there might be something coming in the next episodes about Norma's real family.
Oh, I hope not. Please, no fleeting minutes spent on revleations concerning Norma's family! Unless the mother is the Mother.
How's Annie?
Dead.

But did she ever even really exist?
I doubt this would be a Norma plot. Annie might be the key person. Maybe the entire Norma family story from S2 might have never happened (among other twin peaks stories also fictional/part of a dream or similar).
Come to think of it: Norma acts as if Annie never existed in S3. Did she appear on fwwm?
Regarding her mother, as I recall they did not end things on good terms in season 2. Recall Norma's mom turned out to be MT Wentz and gave the RR a bad review... I think it might have even ended with Norma saying something like she never wanted to see her again. Maybe not. Might need to double-check.
Regardless, they certainly weren't close. And, yeah, Secret History gives an account that is inconsistent in its details, and elides Annie. Part of what I find interesting, though, is that despite the inconsistencies, the core of each story seems to be the same in Secret History as in the show.
I can't remember if the discrepancies in Secret History are written by TP's notes or Briggs.
If it's the latter that's interesting. Ot could suggest Briggs was eluding to something. Frost did confirm on Twitter that Norma's discrepancies would become clear...
Yep but we don't know if they'll become clear in the film or his next book.

??? You made me laugh. Best scene evah.

If its next book material a clear hint will be given by the end of the season. Im not a big fan of these books, they are too sci-fi / linear / grounding. They limit your thought to "real" facts and figures, killing the magic of the philosophical/existential layer.

I thought that too ... and mainly because, while watching the show Annie was a intelligent woman, beautiful and deep... but after what Frost wrote, the importance of her character in FWWM and this season aswell... and most of all, because she did speak and knew too much in her appearences in season 2. Not only I believe that she probably is not alive as we know but is an entity that have reached Dale for some reason and came with all her wisdom.

I agree. I'm glad they exist but don't enjoy them near as much as the show and films (Laura's Diary being an exception). Sauntering through the maze-collage and trying to determine what it all means is what I find enjoyable.

Norma has too little screen time, and her appearances are rather cameo-ish. This seems to be her longer scene so far, and when she's speaking about her family, why can't she mean Annie, too? And it seems that Annie may well live in Twin Peaks - there seem to be no indications to the contrary.
Good point, Anna. She may well live there, as you say.
Most of the cast from the old shows have had very little screen time but considering the story is not mainly about the town or the people, that seems reasonable to me. Hand on heart, I always felt that most of the RR Diner scenes - from the old shows - were filler, anyhow. I wanted them to hurry up and get back to the weird stuff.
Could Norma be the girl from 1956? When Dougie was watching that clip from Sunset Boulevard the character and the audience became focused on the name Gordon Cole but should we have been focusing on the Norma Desmond character as the whole answer to the mystery and Norma Jennings is the Judy as well?
Norma born in 1950 according to TPWiki.
