Around the dinner table, the conversation was lively. Thank you but for now, the forum has been archived.
Norma mentioned she has close family. It's one reason she wants to sell the franchise.
Who are her close family?
Annie?
She may have meant the people of twin peaks in general. But I didn't see it that way.
I thought about Becky and Shelly when she was saying that
So did I. Then I realised - they're not technically family.
I appreciate I'm being a bit anal there 🙂

"Twin peaks" is her "family" i DO see it that way.

I totally assumed she was talking about the Twin Peaks family. Annie is gone (badly, I still assert), and TSHOTP retcons her mother out of existance (questionable canon, I know, quit screaming at me, people!).
It is Ed. It was always Ed. Lucky bastard. At last.
Regarding her mother, as I recall they did not end things on good terms in season 2. Recall Norma's mom turned out to be MT Wentz and gave the RR a bad review... I think it might have even ended with Norma saying something like she never wanted to see her again. Maybe not. Might need to double-check.
Regardless, they certainly weren't close. And, yeah, Secret History gives an account that is inconsistent in its details, and elides Annie. Part of what I find interesting, though, is that despite the inconsistencies, the core of each story seems to be the same in Secret History as in the show.

I can't remember if the discrepancies in Secret History are written by TP's notes or Briggs.
If it's the latter that's interesting. Ot could suggest Briggs was eluding to something. Frost did confirm on Twitter that Norma's discrepancies would become clear...
Norma has to be in her sixties by now. Don't assume her mother is still alive.
I don't. Just pointing out that even if she is, they weren't on good terms at the end of season 2.
I think she meant Ed. He had just come and told her he was free, and of course she will want to spend all the time she can with him, he will be her family 🙂
Ed, her loyal customers (twin peaks), thats how i read it. BUT: my mind also went to the error in the Frost Twin Peaks book (it describes a completely different mother/father of Norma than the one we met in S2) and for which Frost said that it is not an error and that we will have to "wait and see". So there might be something coming in the next episodes about Norma's real family.
I have this feeling that the Norma inconsistencies will not be resolved/revealed in the show itself, but rather in The Final Dossier. Just one of many reasons why I can't wait for it to come out...!

Oh, I hope not. Please, no fleeting minutes spent on revleations concerning Norma's family! Unless the mother is the Mother.

How's Annie?
