Around the dinner table, the conversation was lively. Thank you but for now, the forum has been archived.
It's really hard to tell, but slow the clip down a ton and it does sound like David Lynch giving directions
Back away a little, Michael. Back, back, back away. Now keep going.
David Lynch's assistant is called Michael, so maybe he's helping him film this scene.
I posted this on other threads, so to those of you who have already seen it please forgive the repetition, but the first time I saw this scene I wondered if it was David Bowie's face superimposed over Carlton Lee Russell's. After re-watching frame by frame, I also saw what looked like Grace Zabriskie's face, but this particular frame looks a lot like David Bowie's in older age:
Admittedly, that could also possibly be Grace Zabriskie; it's hard to tell for sure. But below is a fairly recent photo of Bowie from before he passed away. There's definitely a resemblance.
And while Sheryl Lee is credited in each of these episodes simply because a still shot of her face shows up in the opening credits, Grace Zabriskie is not in this episode. David Bowie is. Of course, that would be necessitated either way by the flashback to his scene in FWWM, so I realize I could very well be grasping at straws, but thought it worth mentioning.

Unfortunately, I think Bowie is ruled out: the face that is projected on the jumping man does not have his trademark dilated pupil. Gotta be Grace.
An interesting read regarding the jumping man interpretations. Bear in mind this entry was written in March 2015, so there are guesses and bits of theorizing/assuming that maybe don't add up with the information we have now there's a third season.

Enjoyable read. Thanks for sharing.

Could be right. There is something else after what you say is "now keep going".
To me I originally thought that was Pittsburgh, but listening to that audio it could be "It's her"...maybe?
Gets repeated again later too.
This is fascinating stuff. Obviously it's been inserted deliberately, and could very well be Lynch himself, but I'm not convinced its directing commentary. I want to think it has a meaning in context of the situation with the jumping man.
Edit: could Michael be Mike?
Edit2: could be "this is Sarah" or "It's Sarah"?

I kinda agree. The pronounced eyebrows look more like Bowie's than Sarah's in the pic Karen posted earlier in this thread. Also the straight-lined mouth is more like Bowie. Charley Smith mentioned there is no dilated pupil associated with Bowie in the Jumping-Man frame. But perhaps it wasn't meant to be a dead giveaway.
Maybe it is supposed to be fluid, suggesting more than one character. The fluid nature of identity. The main thing is that the frames don't look like just anyone in Twin Peaks. It is clearly a key player/players.
Firstly I would like to welcome all of you, been reading forum since the Day 1 of The Return, now decided to register. Hi!
Personally I think that the man behind the mask of Jumping Man is P. Jeffries, now here's why :
1. In FWWM Jeffries stated, that he had talked to them/been with them ( I don't remember the exact quote ) just before camera moves to the room with our supernatural friends, and we see The Jumping Man for first time.
2. While Mr.C was going up the convenience store he met this dirty, bearded fellow sitting next to some kind of machine. Image of the Jumping Man projected through the electricity while Mr.C asked him about Jeffries.
This would make more sense, 'cause I find myself strange thinking about Philip as someone with bad intentions, and something beneath Sarahs face was quiet evil for me.
Sarah Palmer's face is distorted in this scene, of course in certain frames it will look less like her. It's undeniably Grace Zabriskie's face, shown clearly in the OP.
Another thing: when Laura opens her face at episode 2, we see the light, and it's just after she says "i'm dead - yet i'm live".
When Sarah opens her face, we see the darkness. Maybe this means that in reality Sarah is dead? (She's live yet she's dead)

More likely it was a clue about Lauras spirit inhabitating other vessel/person.
So here's a weird thought. Some have noticed the odd hand placement that Monica Belluci was observed doing in Gordon Cooper's dream. The classical image of the "Jumping Man" from FWWM showed him holding some sort of wooden device, ostensibly for the purposes of magic, that had it's "digits" (for lack of a better word) in a very similar configuration as Belluci's hands.
I was having some trouble finding an image of her hand placement in question until I stumbled on another thread here, where it was referenced in relation to some "mudra" from Buddhist belief (or something like that).
But isn't it also suggestive of the little device the Jumping Man was originally observed holding? The angle is different and admittedly it's not a perfect match, but it seems as close to me as some of the other suggestions. It kind of looks like...well...some sort of representation of a hand, does it not? With fingers folded in a specific pattern? I know this is a reach, but still...
So why mention this here? Because we saw Sara Palmer's face in the Jumping Man in this episode, but we've also seen him influencing Phillip Jeffries' famed 1989 encounter at the Philadelphia FBI office. In those original scenes, Jeffries' begins to look confused, the music gets fairly intense, and then we see these overlayed images of the Jumping Man doing his thing; suggesting he is influencing what is going on.
There's some question about whether that '89 scene was real or a dream ("We are living inside a dream!") and now we've had Gordon Cole dreaming of that same scene. It would make sense if the same Jumping Man were influencing them both, no?
