He wanted to commit suicide together with Gersten and make it look like Becky killed them.
I think he killed Jerry's foot. The clues are everywhere!
Although I was trying hard not to focus on Gersten's cleavage, I did understand Steven's ramblings as his expectations of what life after death is, i.e. that he was planning on killing himself.
Re: Gersten, I noticed two more things:
- In the scene where she notices the guy and his dog, she makes wide eyes and if you freeze frame, she looks exactly like a younger Donna (Lara Flynn Boyle version). It's unsettling!
- She gets up screaming, then runs to the other side of the tree. In the time it took her to reach it (probably less than 2 seconds), she found time to re-button 2 of her shirt's buttons. (Yeah this is when she got my attention back.)
I know, continuity error, but I'm already drooling at the idea that there are now going to be 10 topics devoted to how Gersten may have a doppleganger behind the tree, or maybe the tree is the Arm's physical form, or maybe she's Jerry's foot in disguise, or maybe the shirt came from the Lodge, yes we all know that, all the clues are in there, but which lodge?! 'Oh no wait it's from the Mauve Zone because it's violet. This HAS to mean something!'
And then someone will point out that in Dune, she said at one point, 'Mother, it's Paul. He has taken the Water of Life.' Which implies that Gersten knows the Mother, and is aware that Dale Cooper drank full and descended. (Cooper waking up confirmed!)
But seriously, nice cleavage. Ahhh. What were we talking about, already? What? May 1989?! Who do you think this... that... this is here?!!
Is Steven really dead?
Maybe Gersten got into drugs, because she couldn't handle the death of her sister Donna, who got killed during the James Hurley accident?

Da knob ?
I think if he successfully killed Becky they would have shown the scene.

Hi MJ,
Never. That's one of my favorite places for my head! 😉

A lot of the rambling seemed like a less coherent but similar style to some of what Sky Ferreira's character (with the rash) was talking about previously in the Roadhouse. Steven mentioned something about a "rhinoceros"? (Initially i assumed this may have been some sorta sexual reference between himself & Gersten but he seems too out of it for me to be making such allusions.) Anyways SF's character mentioned something about "seeing the penguin?" - which i assume could be something to do with the Jumping Man/young Tremont (i.e. either of their masks could be misconstrued as some sorta twisted penguin?). Sounds like Lynch/Frost are trying to emulate some heavy psychotropic drug lingo. All of these animal references is probably nonsense since these "chinese designer drugs" seem like they's wickedly potent.
Could the reference to the animals be something to do with what the Electrician refers to in the Convenience Store in the Missing Pieces? He refers to something called "Animal Life" in his only spoken piece he had. A bit of a stretch i know but odd how the drugs seem to correlate seeing weird animals such as penguins, rhinoceroses, etc. Could they be animal spirits somehow connected between the Lodges/Lakota mythologies?
I've also been getting the feeling that BECKY is the real & at least more CALCULATED & dangerous of the two in their relationship. Steven seemed to be in fear of his life (which ended up being for good reason) but Gersten also seemed very considered about the effect it was having on Steven. I've interpreted it as perhaps suggesting STEVEN is the victim moreso. Gersten also mentioned in the scene in the woods something akin to "what DID she give you?". Perhaps suggestive that Becky's been the one supplying the drugs? This could somewhat be suggestive of a slight role reversal in this respect between Bobby/Laura in revealed in FWWM/the original run. Bobby always seemed the one in charge of the drugs/doing the deal, but then again Laura seemed to be just as involved with the Renaults/Leo/Canadian connections/darker elements of the whole business, than even she let on to Bobby.
This could all be explained once they reveal why Chad was arrested? Seems to me he's definitely something to do with the trafficking part...
Reminds me of the song Rhinoceros by the Smashing Pumpkins.
I think Steven is the evolution of the armpit rash! 😉

One of these armpit theories is going to be right. Just keep em coming!
I saw him rubbing his leg as it being numb (like the numb arm) or as though it is becoming not his leg anymore.
What were we talking about? Someone was talking about Alicia Witt's norks and everything else just faded away.

An Owl Cave pinkie toe ring? Brilliant and sooooo 90's . . .

Sometimes my legs bend back. That's going to make driving interesting.
Yes she's wearing a key, but what struck me is that she's also wearing a pajama top. I think *that* is the key. What does this indicate? Someone is sleeping.
Still not convinced it's all a dream (and again, who is the dreamer?) but this is what I get from that scene.
