The hero of our story finally gets his happy ending.
Definitely unexpected. I didn't think that Lynch and Frost were capable. Haha.
lets hope she doesn't have another accident 😉 ,, good for you ed
They gave us a little misdirection there, "oh no, Norma's blowing him off for that corporate creep."
Tangent: 25 years not divorcing Nadine, Ed might've died a martyr.
Yes, I remember complaining earlier in this forum that I couldn't believe that Ed and Norma hadn't gotten together after 27 blankety-blank years. Let's hope it's permanent and nothing hits Nadine on the head this time!
I actually thought he was going to drop dead at the counter for a minute there.
I'm kind of hoping Shelly decides to go after Bobby after witnessing that reunion.
The teenage me is hoping Shelly forgets Bobby, becomes a real life person and decides to go after me ???
It seems that Big Ed was doing standard breath meditation (possibly mantra, because of Lynch's TM attachment) sitting at the coffee counter. Free, open, receptive in the moment he'd apparently just re-lost what he'd gained after a lifetime of longing.
Totally cried happy tears. FINALLY.
And the way they used that Otis Redding music was brilliant.
It was good to see something good happen to them finally, but it makes me worry that one of them is going to die. 🙁
- That whole thing with the executive was obviously written as a way to 'redo' the original series' love quartet, so basically we're back in the situation we had with Mike Nelson, I was expecting Ed to ask her at some point, "Did you hit your head against something again dear?". It's like Frost & Lynch felt bad (especially towards the actors) for putting their characters into harm's way again, so they decided to forego the last 25 years, reboot their love story the same way as it was done in season 2. I very much doubt something will happen to them again. It's L&F making sure to tie a loose end for old fans. They have a heart, too! (Remember, the Log Lady's character got her own In Memory.)
- Suspension of disbelief: Big Ed tells Norma about Nadine, and IMMEDIATELY after that, she has a meeting with a lover to tell him she's out and buh-bye. Okay then. Did she decide that on the spot, or was it premeditated? She looked like she was unhappy in her relationship, but she didn't hesitate to hurt Ed in an earlier episode by tossing him aside. Did they really spend the last few years in a semi-bitter relationship like that..? I have a hard time believing that.
Anyway, congrats Ed & Norma! I rooted for you too! (Even if only for the last couple of months, since I hadn't heard of you until then :P)
I'm still expecting the shots that Deputy Jesse heard over at Big Ed's Gas Farm to come into play........ It wouldn't have been the shots at the RR that Jesse heard, that's a long way from the Gas Farm.
It was nice to see such a dramatic moment be one of happiness. I am also happy to see Nadine armed with her shovel. I think it will come in handy when things start going down.
