This idea that Andy is now a vessel for the Fireman really strikes me. His heavy breathing indicated something profound which at first simply struck me as the quickening of his pulse, or time, upon his reentry into the 3rd dimension of Earthly time-space. Now, though, you mention that the smoking cardboard rose disappears after sucking back the vapors, then Andy's chest begins to heave. This could turn out very interesting, if perhaps Andy begins to guide Frank Truman with messages the same way Señor Droolcup guided Cooper before.

As for the white lodge/black lodge concept, that's kinda precisely what's running through my mind too. Especially considering the gold hue of this oil puddle mound, just like Laura's ball. Seeing Laura lying outside the puddle on 10/2 like Naido was on 10/1 would be really thrilling!!

Oh, also, in reference to the comments on the strangeness of police behavior: totally! And this isn't the first time police officers have responded strangely in this series. It's probably been mentioned a dozen times Andy's inadequacy in dealing with the Farmer when he saw the truck that ran over that kid. And after they get Naido back, they don't take her to hospital to check on her vitals or see about her vision, but rather lock her in a jail cell next to a really insane drunk guy and Chad?!? Ahh, Twin Peaks: law enforcement at its finest. Albert would be having a field day.

I was just about to post about the scene with Andy and that farmer. I haven't yet watched Part 15 and don't know if it lends any new clues about "why Andy?", but I was thinking that maybe the purpose of that farmer scene was simply to emphasize (again) how trusting/impressionable Andy is. That trait might be what makes Andy the best candidate for this particular role chosen by the Fireman.

The British kid feeling like his life had no purpose had some other characteristics the Fireman sought, and the Fireman gave him a unique "destiny" and gift. So maybe seeing Andy's naivety (to the nth degree) earlier this season says something about why he was pulled up to the White Lodge in Part 14.

Ugggggg.... No time in my sched to watch Part 15 till tomorrow night. Ugggg!!!

Does the White Lodge have its own dopplegangers?

I keep going over the idea that Andy and Lucy could somehow be The Fireman and Madam Dido.

Why Andy?  Because he is the pure of heart, selfless hero - which can't be corrupted.

Hawk seems to be that kind of person too, besides he is so much sophisticated.

I am more in the boat Andy was chosen because there was, how to say this politely, more 'free space' in Andy's head.  If you want someone to absorb everything you want them to (especially, out of the box type things) choose someone less entrenched in their own thoughts and beliefs.
