I read this in the Reddit forum, and want to apologize in case it's been presented in one of the threads here already.
In the Reddit forum, someone postulated the idea that the clip Andy is shown of him kind of pushing Lucy toward something could be him having her deduce which Cooper is legit.
I think this could be a very valid notion, especially with Lucy, like Andy, being so honest and pure of heart. But it would assume a few things:
- that both Coopers end up back in Twin Peaks
- that Bad Coop dresses-up like Good Coop. This has already been discussed in this forum before now, and it would also make sense for Bad Coop not to roll into Twin Peaks looking the way he normally does.
- that there would be some reason for Bad Coop to disguise himself as Good Coop. I mean, why would he want to? Things seem to be coming to a head in Twin Peaks (spiritually), and so I can't imagine Bad Coop wanting to waste a lot of time playing nice with the locals. Nor do I seem him wanting to pretend to be Good Coop for the rest of his life. So... what would be the point of the disguise?
Other than that, I think it's an exciting theory! What do you think?
I do like that idea, I have to admit I am very intrigued by what is going on there! I cant wait to see, but I so dont want it to end!!
On another note, maybe Lucy is the one who is able tell the difference and know that Bad Coop is Bad Coop??
There's a lot of good stuff on the Reddit forum but I am not sure that I see how they came to the conclusion Lucy is identifying Coopers. If anything, it seems like the sequencing of images implies a close tie between Lucy and Naido.
Most great theories don't tend to pan out but I would pay extra to see this scene. Think about how Lucy talks her way through simple tasks like transferring a phone call and now imagine her talking through her deductive process of identifying Dale Coopers. It would be one of the single most hilarious scenes of the series.
A good theory - for maximum effect, it would be best if Coop was still Dougie Jones and repeated the last lines that Lucy says while she is deducing.
To me, it seemed like Andy was positioning Lucy in some kind of lookout role. It would take a lot of courage to put the one you love in harms way, so maybe this vision is intended to ensure Andy has the courage to do so. It could even lead to the scene you mention (the two Coopers) or Lucy being face-to-face with the forces of evil.
I don't know where she got it, but I believe she has a talisman. Her owl pendant.

It would make sense for Mr C to pretend to be the good Coop, if he wants to get his hands on Naido.
Maybe Lucy and Andy are going to become the new guardians of all that is good in Twin Peaks.
So, yeah, your idea has legs. Fortunately not froggy ones and wings.
I could see why Mister C would imitate Cooper. He could get close to those who care about Cooper and kill them.

I don't think Mr. C is CAPABLE of imitating Dale. Consider what has happened to two time we have seen him try. His voice gets slow and strange, his motions robot-like, his visage wax-like. I like the theory, but I don't think it will take special skill to tell them apart.

Lucy is not what she seems
I would agree that Lucy does seem to have some kind of important moment coming up based on Andy's vision. Hopefully it's something we see in season 3, as opposed to saved for the futurepast.

There has been a lot of suggestion thruout the series that Lucy and Andy are a lot sharper and more intuitive than they at first appear. Lucy picked Andy over Dick on the basis of intuition that he was the better mate. She made that decision quite suddenly; we don't see her debating with herself or anyone else over it. She has said things that are suggestive--she tells Sheriff Truman "I'm not here", and she talks with Chad about her and Andy having no idea what time it is. These would not draw any particular notice in a normal environment, but she is in a show where time and absence are of the essence. She and Andy debate about a red chair, while another red chair is the repository of a long-stored secret.
For a long time I wondered why those two got so much screen time when they seemed to have only comic roles. Now we find Andy caught up in the most high-end of Twin Peaks themes. It is possible that Lucy will follow, as Reddit suggests.
Brilliant thought. And if it's Dougie Coop vs Mr. C then we've got two Cooper's who can't talk like Dale Cooper.
This idea reminds me of Lucy helping Dale during the stone-throwing scene in Season 1, when Dale discusses Tibet.
I love it!
