Interesting that James is fast approaching the source of the hum. Very clever idea to use the basement of the Great Northern since the International Pilot episode used the basement of the hospital for the final showdown.

Yes, the furnace room totally conjured up the boiler room scene with BOB! So what's behind the door?

Unlike other locations around the globe it seems like Twin Peaks is a patchwork of portals to the different worlds. If I'm following the connections properly, I'd say that it's possible the Evolution of the Arm is behind that door.

Laura? After all, she was 'dating' James and she has gone missing. The door handle was gold, just like the Laura sphere. The humming sound does not strike me as ominous, as does the electric static sounds.

Oooh, this is good! Especially considering the scene between Laura and James in the custodial closet near the beginning of the Twin Peaks piece in FWWM.

I still associate that "hum" with the sound the Arm makes when he rubs his hands together in Coopers dream from the first season.

Is the boiler room the location of Bob from the same dream when he's saying "Mike? Mike?  Can you hear me?"

Yeah, that Bob boiler room scene was the first thing I thought of when James went to check on the furnace amidst all that humming.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m4NWOyPp1yg

The humming is not only not ominous, it's warm.  I'm almost sure I hear it layered beneath the other music in Part 8 as Laura is being created.  (Or it could be jus tinnitus at my age)

Will James find Laura?
