You don't have to take the man's name in the US.  I use my maiden name because it's who I am.

Here, it's optional for either partner.  Mrs Therapy took my name because, well...

Therapy is just such a damn cool surname.

😉

Is there a legal requirement in the US for a wife to take the husband's name?  I know some people go for the double barrel name but couldn't she, if she preferred, keep Evans?

I ask because it's possible she wanted to keep her birth names, or it's just a nickname she had from being a kid.  The latter seems to be the most likely, given Diane's statement.

No requirement, my wife kept her name.

Right then, so it's perfectly reasonable and not at all unusual for Janey-E to continue being called Janey-E after marriage.  Even if she's taken Dougie's surname, it's not unusual, which was the point I was making, in response to someone saying it was odd.

Where I live, since 1981, it is illegal to take the name of the spouse.

Where dat?

Over here, you can call yourself whatever you want, for whatever reason.  Guy I worked with changed his name to Fungus The Bogeyman.  Yes, really.

Québec. Quite a unique civil code here.

We can legally change our name but we have to ask the federal government. A mariage does not permit a name change.

Wow.  That's different.  We can take the step of legally changing our name but there's no real requirement to do so, other than for the sake of convenience if you'd want your driving licence, bank accounts and so on to match.  Even then, there's nothing to say that - legally - your bank, or the licensing authority has to force you to use your "real" name, provided you can prove you are who you say you are.

Marriage is, as I said, optional for either partner.  In theory, both partners could swap surnames but I don't think it's ever happened.

I had the feeling like everything had been leading up to this episode.

If this keeps going in this direction, the last episode is going to be awesome!

I did not care for the Diane is Janey-E's half-sister as a device for moving the FBI story to Las Vegas. I feel I could of come up with a dozen better ways to link the FBI to Dougi-Coop and that's is not saying much.

I only hope this is some type of trick on Diane's part and for some reason is leading the FBI to Vegas, think  about the text Diane got: "Have the asked you about Vegas?"

Ooooh, excellent thought! Diane might be making that up. Brilliant!

I'm not sure if I can call a Dougie-free episode my fave. Ep. 6 and 11 are still riding high on my list, but I could change when I rewatch this. Everything with Andy/Naido was brilliant.

Good episode,  but not fully bloomed for me.  It had much more potential than the outcome. I generally felt a lack of epic element,  especially in the jack rabbit walk and white lodge scene

Wow, for me it was not so much of a bloom as an explosion. Andy knows everything! Sarah eats neck! The FBI knows where Dougie is! Janie-ecis Diane's sister! Green Glove! Tina's daughter!

To me, this was an hour of epic. I barely breathed.

Yeah,  that's what i intended with "potential". It's such a full episode in terms of the plot,  but the atmosphere wasn't that full for me.  Maybe that's why,  too many things happening.   I just felt a very little slice of that epic tension this show can bring (and brought on and on with that eight part masterpiece)

Yeah, the lack of atmosphere (music!!) was an issue. And no MIKE or good luck for Dougie.... then again, the season is a collective. There won't be one perfect episode.

But Ep. 8 could stand as a work all its own.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think this is the only episode so far that hasn't had Coop or Mr C, except the flashbacks of Coop.  Far as I remember, all the others have featured either or both characters.

Amazing episode.

The moment the RR logo was black and white, I knew it was gonna be a corker! (Same colour as EP8).

Was expecting more insightful discussions about this episode when I logged on here. There is so much content and backstory to consider. The bits that are really interesting seem a little light on conversation here, while the incidentals seem to be getting all the theories and what have yous?

Buck fever, mate.  We're all gearing up for the big push of the last four (well, three, since the last two are being shown together) episodes.

Anyhow, insightful discussions?  You sure you're in the right place? 😉
