And it forms a wonderful unity with Andy being the one checking on Naido, holding her hand, reprimanding Chad in the simplest here-is-the-basics-of-ethics-champ form, & the chair choosing scene with Lucy. Wonderous.
I thought that scene had abit of a Wizard of Oz vibe.... the cowardly lion (Andy) Getting his courage to lead.
It felt fitting that he get to be a hero of sorts after all these years.
Or Scarecrow? You always had a brain...
Notice in the entire scene with Naido, even when the vortex appears, Andy doesn't look in the least scared, or even worried?
He shows concern for Naido and then interest in what's going on with the vortex. Even when he's transported to the Fireman's house, he never once shows fear.
Man of Steel.
Many insightful comments in this post. Kudos!
So this is totally a random thought but, given the Beatles' song reference with Freddie and "A Day in the Life," I immediately think back to Lucy in the lodge as "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds."
Also Sarah Palmer reminded me of "Helter Skelter," although that's a bit more of a stretch. Not so much of a stretch "Number 9" from the same White Album.
Andy is pure love and empathy. Yet, when he needed to protect Harry from Jacques Renault he was able to decommission Jacques. Andy even accepted Dick, without malice, and was willing to accept the baby Lucy was carrying without question. When Andy tells Chad he is “bad” he sounds simplistic – but the truth is simple. It takes strength and perfect courage to speak the truth and demonstrate love and acceptance. These characteristics make Andy the perfect candidate to directly enter the White Lodge.
100% yes. The truth IS simple. Love, honesty, empathy, and acceptance are clean and simple. We often over-complicate our own responses.
Now I'm thinking that if anyone wakens our sleeping beauty Cooper, it might very well be Andy.
Once more... like when Coop got shot "Agent Cooper, it's Andy, Do you hear me?... Agent Cooper, it's Andy".

It has crossed my mind that that reason Andy went was because HE was the one gripping her hand...

Senor Droolcup: "The phone. I hung it up for ya."
Coop: "Did you call the doctor?"
S.D.: "Uhh, Huhhhh??
