I was surprised that Albert didn't react more when Cole said he was in touch with Sheriff Truman in Twin Peaks.
After all, Albert and Truman (the brother) had become good friends in the "ancient" world of Twin Peaks.
Albert doesn't show much emotion at all. In fact, he shows an almost pathological lack of affect most of the time.
But in the second season, they embrassed each other when the met, like good ole friends.
I'm going to be sadly honest and say that I don't think Miguel Ferrer was 100% during filming. I'm not sure when he was diagnosed with throat cancer, but it could have been before or during filming, and if he wasn't feeling well because of the cancer, no doubt it would have prevented him from being as manic as he was during the show's original run.
Of course, some of it is down to writing. Lynch/Frost seemed to write the character as being more subdued this time around. Not sure why.
I found him being more Albert in that episode somehow
In the early episodes, he seemed to play another character
Albert is 25 years older. He would have calmed down and learned to manage her temperament.
It's entirely possible that Ferrer wasn't 100%. It's also possible that they wanted him "flat." He's still there, he's still undeniably Albert, but a lot has happened. He's been listening to Gordon screaming for 25 years, maybe he's can't hear anyone and that is why he doesn't respond. Or maybe after Cooper disappearing following the disappearance of Desmond, he just shut down. Perhaps something else altogether.
Albert's lack of reaction to Gordon mentioning Sheriff Truman is the same reason why he was explaining the coordinates on Ruth's arm as belonging to a small town in northeast Washington State instead of just saying Twin Peaks?.......and then he was conveniently interrupted by the beautiful Tammy Presley who brings in the coffee.
However obvious it seems that Gordon has been to Twin Peaks, the opposite can be said for Albert for some strange reason. Just an observation and yes I KNOW. Albert was in Twin Peaks Season 1 & 2.
Or was he ....
Is it really Albert in the end?

Tammy Presley? Well, they're off to Vegas, so who knows?
Tammy Preston? I forget. She's bomb
Something about cooper having a dream and in his dream Albert helps him solve a murder of a young girl who's sexually active, on drugs and preparing an abundance of food.
"Damn Coop, That's sounds like half the high school girls in America"
So if it was a dream, and Albert helped him solve the murder in the dream then Albert was never in Twin Peaks because it was a dream. ya ya i know

I think everybody expresses emotion more obliquely than they used to.
Except Cooper / Dougie 😉
People do not remain exactly the same 25 years later.
I think his performance is perfect. I am speaking as someone who ten years ago would have had a much more animated reaction to something silly my husband would do, but after ten years of marriage and thirteen years of hanging out together the reaction is a little more deadpan. You just get a little more control after all that time. XD
Plus they did have him lose it during that car ride (CARSICK!) and in the rain (GENEKELLYM**F**) So the Albert fire is still burning! Just not out of control.
And yes, he probably had to subdue some of his performances on account of being ill but I don't think it hurt the character and the way they chose to film his scenes. Agh I'm still broken hearted this is the last Albert we get.
It couldn't all have been a dream (well, I guess it could), since Gordon recognizes Lucy, indicating he's personally familiar with the Twin Peaks folks. So the suggestion is he was really there (and by extension so was Albert).
Honestly this episode was the first time I could see in his face (the actors) that he was essentially dying in front of our eyes. Earlier I was kind of amazed he looked so good, knowing what happened to him. But now the more I watch the more obvious it becomes. Weird thing is, they probably shot a lot of these scenes out of sequence, so the "earlier" ones where I thought he looked good may have been closer to this actual death.
