Please don't all jump on me, but I have a question that's been bugging me ever since I found this (pretty awesome) forum:
What are considered spoilers?
I ask because the reason I initially found this forum is because, several weeks ago, I did a google search for "twin peaks spoilers," and it came up (it still does, as the number one search result). And, above the listing of all the episode topics, is the title: 'Twin Peaks: The Return (Spoilers)'.
And yet.... there are no real "spoilers' to speak of. The program has been very successful at keeping things under wraps and, when something wacky does occur, such as part 14 airing a week early in Germany, this forum goes out of its way to not have anything from it disclosed. Same goes for the Reddit forum (which also comes up under the same, aforementioned, google search). Some folks did post spoilers there, but the mods took them down within an hour.
So, while I've come to appreciate this forum for the people who come here and the discussions we all have, I can't help but wonder: Why does it say "spoiler" up top? I fear the answer is something along the lines of 'Well, we're discussing the show here, so, if someone comes along and hasn't, for example, seen episode 10, we want them to know that we're discussing episode 10 here. That way they'll know to stay away until they've seen it.' Because, I'm sorry, that's kinda not really spoilers. If someone is coming to an online forum that is discussing Twin Peaks The Return, then hopefully they'll be smart enough to know that people will be discussing it.
And so, when we do have an opportunity of actual spoilers, they're turned away. So... this isn't really a spoiler forum? It's fine if it isn't, I've just been confused about it.
This comes up as spoilers because a. we use the word spoilers a lot, and b. if you aren't caught up on the parts or haven't watched it yet, this is chalk full of "spoilers."
As a reader of the forum I know where to look and when not to look. So the forum is mostly safe and free from spoilers, unless you go looking for them when a true spoiler becomes available.
The exception here is if, when someone learns of an actual spoiler, they post it maliciously with a misleading title thread. I don't think this has happened on this forum. And, I'd like to think that nobody in the world is that sad and bored to do such a thing (although, having spent time around humans throughout my lifetime, one can posit there is some chance of that happening at some point and on some forum somewhere online).
Still, everyone on this forum is a jolly good sport so I am hopeful there will be no real spoilers posted prior to episodes airing 🙂
I understand the confusion. It simply serves as an alert to newcomers. Remember, some people are not caught up with the new series or don't even have access to it.
Yup, it's why when I start a topic I tend to name them one word or name rather than anything that could cause anyone to find out something.

Fair enough.
I think it's good and respectful. Personally, spoilers don't "spoil" this show for me because no amount of textual information can replace the audio-visual presentation that's in store. That said, some people live for the surprise aspect and it would be uncool to ruin things for them.
Simple concept. If you arent caught up, avoid forums. This forum is great because it's broken down by episodes.
