In the beginning, the Giant tells Coop "you are far away" just before he flickers out like an old black & white tv and disappears. In this episode Audrey said that she felt like she was somewhere else. Is there a connection here between the fate of Coop and Audrey? Or at least their location? Is the same power holding them mute/trapped within their physical body? Any thoughts?
Well, Monique. "Existentialism 101" - we all suffer the illusion of being muted/trapped in a physical body.
I feel like their circumstances are so different, I don't believe the same thing is trapping them, but their feeling of being trapped may be parallel. Cooper could be inside his body thinking the same things, struggling with his identity and his ability to do what he is trying to do.
However Cooper is being "helped" by Mike, and I get the feeling that Charlie is giving Audrey the runaround and keeping her in one place.
Also I believe that the flickering Cooper in the first scene with the Giant was a reference to the Giant's ability to see through time and space the way he did in his movie theater. The events on screen were also "far away" but he was able to interact with them by sending his orb through to earth. I believe the Giant's tech allowed him to speak from his home on that purple ocean even though Cooper was still sitting in the waiting room for the Black Lodge.

In ep 1 of Season 2, the Giant tells Dale to think of him as a friend. Dale asks the Giant where he comes from. Giant answers, "The question is, where have you (Dale) gone." This makes little sense at the time.
Clearly pointing to the future, Giant seems to be gaining Dale's trust for the events that will unfold. And now Dale knows neither where or who he is.
There may be an intended analogous situation with Audrey. She doesn't seem to know who she really is, and doesn't know where the Roadhouse is. Charlie may be using these dialogues with her, and following her lead in therapeutic manner, to trigger her memory.

I think there is something to be said of Coop having two children with Audrey and Jane-E (if sonny jim is biologically dougies) but through a doppelganger each. I think its possible the connection may be found there
