Around the dinner table, the conversation was lively. Thank you but for now, the forum has been archived.
The "How Will Cooper Wake Up?" Is the new "Who killed laura palmer?" .
When or how Cooper wake up? Why would the White Lodge wait so long to wake Cooper? (Mike can't) Or maybe they're waiting for Cooper to wake up to give him the clues ....
Can cooper wake up in Vegas? I worry about the red balloons in Las Vegas. (If anyone saw the short-film "The Red Baloon" -1956-)
The red balloons in Twin Peaks (I believe) are a reference to this film, where a red balloon turns out to have a life of its own and accompanies a child in his day to day life. Then a band of envious boys try to destroy it and the baloon gives his life so as not to separate from his friend ....
The 1119 girl has one and seems to want suicidarce. why?
It seems that the CIA had a "subproject119" that was based on remote control of people through bioelectrical signals (electricity involved again)
She can not stand being manipulated and tries to commit suicide.
Seems like a kind of Bob or Mike using people as hosts for some purposes
Dougie / Coop behaves a bit like the red baloon ... just reply to coffe and cherry pie or to the "calling" from Black lodge and (more or less) Janey-E's orders. The rest seem to be just reflections of the Cooper we know.
I have a bad feeling about Janey-E / Coop (or some friend of Dougie in Vegas) .... somebody would die ...
But if none of them dies and cooper returns to himself ... will they let him go?
Since cooper took the place of dougie, he change for good the life of many people in Vegas.
The old lady at the casino, the Mitchum's, Bushnell, Tony... Janey-E is now different, less altered, and now she loves "Dougie".
So ... like the red baloon ... Will Dougie / Coop or Janey-E die... Die as if it were a sacrifice to stay with each other
or they just let him go (to Twin Peaks)?
I don't have much to add to this, other than it's a good thought-provoking idea.
I do hope that the Jones family stay safe and happy (if Coop gets his mind back, this will obviously cause a lot of upset for Janey-E and jnr).
But what will be will be...
I still think Janey-E is the ideal mate for Coop.
I know everyone else tends to root for Annie, and she was fine, I have nothing against her. But I don't think she had the edge or the toughness that would be needed to be with SA Dale Cooper.
Example: Do you think Janey E would so easily be taken by that idiot, Windom Earle?

I feel so ambivalent about Janey-e. She displays smarts and toughness sometimes, but of everyone who seems not to know or care that something is SERIOUSLY wrong with Dougie, she is the most culpable, and in a way that seems really selfish. She's got a pile of cash, a really nice car (that I guess SHE gets to drive, since Dougie isn't getting behind the wheel) a super-weird gym set for her son (let's not get started on Sonny Jim here), an in-shape man she can climb on top of, and she's happy as a clam.

I don't think 119 girl is attempting suicide. I just think she is keeping herself as unconscious as possible. Seems pretty clear to me that she is being manipulated either by DarkDale or some other force related to the black lodge, simply by dint of her backwards-speak. I think she is the "emergency broadcast system" of the forces out to see Dougie dead.
yeeep... maybe it's like Philip Gerard... using some strong drugs to keep those forces that control her out of her system ... or maybe she only wants to be the most unconscious as possible.
I mean, the show refers to certain consequences ... I don't know how to describe it ...
-Militar-
-atomic bomb test that generates Bob, experiment whatever ... all the bad shit come here.
Why would you throw a bomb at innocent people? because of fear. And what is the result? Pain and sorrow ... wait a minute! Garmonbonzia
These (alleged) CIA projects to control people. The effects of the war (look what happened to Truman's son and his wife)
-Gun Control
A small child has access to a weapon and shoot against the RR Diner. Why people need a gun? for protection... from what? from those who attempt something against to us. Why? We are all good until it puts us in a limit situation ... that can be poverty, not being able to eat, or have access to medical attention (the hospital will only save Miriam if someone puts the money) so.....
-Corporations: just listen to Dr Amp. And look what happens to Norma in RR Diner "Love doesn't generate profits"
In a way people generate their own garmombonzia, and the Black Lodge entities come to eat ... after all "Around the dinner table the conversation is lively"
They are not just things that happen in the show, they happen in real life ... it's like a kind of message to people ... "wake up, do not be selfish, take care of your neighbor, and eat healthy ..."
Dr Amp says "Shovel your weight out of the shit .... and educate yourselve."
Dr Amp says "Shovel your weight out of the shit .... and educate yourselve."
Yes, but Dr Amp is an ex-psychiatrist who was in love with his minor patient and wears 3-D glasses and likely has more psychiatric issues than all his previous patients combined.
Yep. Thats the beauty.... Do you remember Bobby speech at Laura's funeral? well... everyone is deep in the mud... in the SHIT! Everyone sleeping with everyone in Twin Peaks... even Dwayne Milford!!!! well... except Cooper. He had Audrey waiting... she had a crush on him... she is waiting for you man.... it's all yours coop!!! She even went into his room, and wait for him naked in bed ...looks easy man!!! But no. He is a pro, he doesn't do that with people involved in his case (anymore)... and then, he ends up 25 years stuck in the red room... I dont wanna be his weenie...
That fabric structure with the red balloons outside the office building just looks so out of place. It always attracts my attention. I count the balloons, and look to see if they're in different spots. So far, nothing comes to mind. I think it's a red herring, but I will keep looking at it anyway - because it's there.
Are there seven of them?

I think you're on target with this. The question is whether it's a commentary by Lynch and Frost on what some women might find to be an ideal husband, or if it points to Janey-E and indeed the entire LV setting as a kind of fool's gold within the narrative.

Janey E certainly helped Coop scratch that itch a couple of episodes ago.

Indeed. I think all of Las Vegas and all that's in it symbolizes human shallowness in the series. (Probably not just in the series. Why would anybody choose to live in this Mahogany-style enclave in the desert if it wasn't for ephemeral pleasures?)
I heard secondhand weeks ago that some theorized Janey-e and Sonny Jim to be "doppelgangers" of the 119 girl and her son. Didn't know what to make of it. I've been rooting for Janey-E and worried about Dale Cooper returning and Janey-E/Sonny Jim being left all alone--perhaps if Cooper goes to find unrequited love with Diane or Audrey.
But! There's a clue that Janey-E/Sonny Jim might be "manufactured": an owl. When the limo driver first takes "Mr. Jackpots" to the house, they stand outside forever. There's no sign of Janey-E until we hear an owl hoot. We see the owl fly over Dougie Cooper's head, and then suddenly we hear Janey-E's voice yelling from inside and she comes out the door.
So I'm wondering if she could be just as "manufactured" as the original Dougie who slept with prostitutes. But I do love her character. She's my favorite new female character (Carl and Bushnell win the male category). As for her being immoral or something by not helping dribbling Dougie some more, well, both she and Bushnell know Dougie was supposedly in a car accident years ago and has episodes from time to time.
Whatever the case, Dale Cooper returns outside of Las Vegas, I rather doubt we'll know what happens to Janey-E............ Or maybe she and Sonny Jim are the double header. Maybe their deaths could help revive Cooper? It would certainly give us the audience an emotional jolt, because they're rather lovable characters.
