It looks like he's holding the cup up when he's not, then it drops suddenly. My thought was the reflection was edited to get rid of a visible camera but it seems intentionally odd.
I finally caught this upon reviewing. It's very hard to see. You're exactly right. In the reflected image he's still holding up the cup for a second, but in reality he's not. Then, in the reflection, the cup suddenly is on table as if the image was edited.
No idea what it means, if anything.
Sarah Palmer's reflection is off too:

Do you ever wonder if Lynch and/or Frost or their people peek on websites like this to see what their audience is saying/postulating about their show and are impressed at how observant we are, or to see where our minds are going?
I just bet they are laughing their bollocks off at us all trying to make sense of it. I imagine things like, "Let's get James singing at the Roadhouse, that's gonna get up a few noses" and, "Hey, why don't we fart about with the reflections here and there, see what the smartarses think up for that" and so on.
You're probably right Sam! I'm sure there's more than a few red herrings thrown in, and they're checking to see if we're following dead end leads. But I'll also bet that some of the people in this forum with some of the strangest theories and predictions have been right here and there! We never know when we're right, but they do of course.
I still think there's code in the airplane windows and the Lynch/Frost logos. That CAN'T be a red herring. To quote Paul Thomas Anderson:
"This is not just something that happened, this cannot be one of those things, this please, cannot be that."
The Red Herring is one of DL's favorite dishes at the RR.
There is a part of me that STILL wants to believe that Laura faked her own death and came back as Maddie...
Isn't Gordon Cole's drawing of the deer just a reference to Mr. Reindeer from Wild at Heart?
I think we can forget about ‘post-production errors’. Not on a Lynch opus.
Anyone stay for the creditson this one - first one is “Head Mover”(!)
So this took me watching it a million times to see it, but Ed's reflection between the gas pumps is doing something different than Ed is:
Subtle, but a brilliant spot. It did feel odd watching this scene at the time - it just didn't feel right.
