Yeah, it makes sense he would be running out of there freaked out cuz he's been high, lost, and afraid of his foot. But maybe he also saw something spooky, some red curtains perhaps? Maybe he'll be an informant.
I watched the episode again last night and it struck me that he's really scared. Maybe he'll be an informant?? Just a random thought.
Well....they don't call them the Ghost Woods because Casper lives there.
Perhaps Frost/Lynch have included Jerry's forest adventures as an amusing side note, but I don't think so. So far pretty much all the various plot threads have begun to merge in Twin Peaks.
He's probably found something that will require golden shovels to dig up. A an indian artifact buried out there. A giant, golden, statue of a frog-moth God.
Having experienced a few in my time, I would surmise that Jerry is in the throes of a massive whitey.
Just say no, kidz.

It's his own fault. He shouldn't have visited The Whitey Lodge. 😉

How do you open THAT door? XD
I'll bet Jerry saw a lot of things in the woods. The question is, was any of it relevant. Or real.
Real talk though, I would chalk those scenes up to pure comedy except for the fact that they take place in the deep woods. That location is too important to not have significance. I'm excited to see what we learn about Jerry's Excellent Adventure.
I'm kind of disappointed that he appears to be out of the woods now. I was hoping he'd end up saving the day when the sheriff's crew got into trouble out there. Maybe he still will somehow.
