Excuse me if it has been posted but, in the very beginning of the Secret History I found the date which corresponds with the dates from Briggs’ note. After description of what I believe is the White Lodge, 3rd October is mentioned, but it’s not the date when the traveling party was in that place, but when they returned from, so most likely, they visited White Lodge on the same dates as in the note.

Page 17 - it is mentioned in the journal entry written by Thomas Jefferson. Certainly implies Lewis was near the falls on Oct 1/2.
Lewis also mentions that, like many people who have entered the lodge world, Lewis and his men seem to have forgotten many of actual events that occurred on their expedition to the falls. It is also this document that implies he kept the owl cave ring.
It is unclear whether Lewis visited the White or Black lodge/s or had some other experience.
