Did anyone notice when the Woodsman was lurking Diane seemed to mouth something?? What was it???
I thought it was just her blowing smoke, but it looks like the vowel sounds AH and OOH, not sure what goes with that. Looking at it again, it links up with the reversed Woodsman scene and is perhaps the "go ahead" for him to kill Hastings.
What I can't figure out about Diane's involvement in that scene is that she would've been perfectly fine not saying anything about what she saw to Albert and Gordon. God knows Tammy and Mackley didn't see anything. But for some reason she feels compelled to mention that she saw something too, only she mentions it the wrong way (leaving the car instead of entering).
I suppose there are two possibilities. Either Diane is cohoots with whatever is going on (I'm still not sure about that), or something about those experiences makes recollection difficult. To the latter possibility, Gordon seems to have trouble clearly remembering his experience; albeit the part he struggles with involves him being inside some tornadic vortex that leads to the magic stairway. Diane then quickly suggests she isn't sure what she saw.
Everything on the surface points to her being intentionally deceptive, but the door is opened just enough to the possibility that she legitimately isn't sure what she saw.
What's even more bizarre is that nobody seems to really be questioning how Hastings died. I mean if you were Mackley or Tammy, wouldn't you be trying to figure out the logistics of it a lot harder than they seemed to be doing? I would've assumed there was a sniper in one of the nearby buildings.
One possibility is that Diane is being possessed or controlled during those moments which might explain the foggy recall.
Especially if I were Macklay. I'm not sure I would want coffee and donuts after seeing what happened (and knowing that I was just a few feet from him, both the guilt that I couldn't prevent it and the fear that I could've been next or why not me). I'd think he would be the one with the jitters and freaking out trying to get answers.
At least Tammy might have been clued in to the supernatural goings on by Gordon (and her research on the secret history if that precedes these episodes), even if just a little bit (and she did already see the heads of the two kids from the room in NY, so she'd probably have a whole different set of questions).
- Diane is playing a double game and this is the only sure thing we know, since we have no idea what kind of game it is. To play a double game you will have to tell half-truths rather than lying completely...she simply doesn't want her game to be discovered imo.
Reading the secret history and looking at how Bob affected people, it seems that people have a problem remembering things when they are in close contact with these realms. Think of Hastings unable to remember anything after his contact, I don't think this was a defense or a sign he was possessed just an effect of proximity. The conversation in the police office after the death of Hastings really looks like people trying to figure out what happened and are having a hard time recalling.

I too thought it looked like go ahead....as if she was the lookout.
I really don't know. I can't work out what she'd see from that angle...
Well with what she said after Hastings was killed, now I can't remember exactly what she said but she looked through the windshield and after the detective called all cars, her comment was something like all the cars in the world can't help him now.. or something along those lines, and although what she said was very true, it was the manner in which she said it.. it was like there was a little humor in her voice and a tiny bit of a smirk on her lips.. it was very creepy and it was this moment that I started to question the very character of Diane and what her role is in all of this.. IMO
Could be she mouthed "NOW" while Cole and Rosenfield were examining Ruth's body.
