Was there a timeline split for Dougie?

I think we can just imagine Mike using lodge symbols to guide Dougie into buying the pie.

What's more perplexing to me is that Bushnell assumes these "known gangsters" are going to be happy to see Dougie, who can barely communicate, because they will understand that he validated their claim.  Has nobody from Lucky 7's called them in advance to alert them of this $30 million payday?  Seems like an important detail that anyone concerned about multiple assassination attempts on Dougie's life wouldn't overlook.

Let's see.  Two attempts on my man's life.  Now some criminals want to meet him for a private conversation.  Something just seems off there.

Anyway, Bushnell mentioned leveraging an additional policy so that the payout of $30 million wouldn't bankrupt Lucky 7.   That seems like an important detail that will probably come back into the fold.

I don't think there's a timeline split, but it seems pretty obvious that Mike orchestrated the whole thing. Remember, Mike is able to appear in people's dreams and/or to manipulate them. He did it with Cooper in the original show. The Giant did the same. I think Mike had to save Coop, so he made the Mitchum brother have that dream, about Dougie/Coop having a box with a cherry pie inside. He couldn't remember the whole dream, but he remembered at first that he had to kill the guy. The he remembered the cherry pie and that Dougie/Coop did some good to them, so he pressed his brother not to kill him if he had the cherry pie because it would match the part of the dream that he remembered, so it could possible match the other part too (Dougie/Coop being a friend and not an enemy). The part he didn't remember was that Dougie/Coop had the check. Or maybe Mike made it more straight, saying if the guy comes with a cherry pie you can't kill him, but it doesn't change anything really. So the following morning Mike makes sure Coop goes to the bakery/coffee shop/whatever and buys the pie, so that the Mitchum brother's dream comes true and he doesn't kill him.

As for Bushnell, I agree he doesn't take the most cautious approach, but he calls the Mitchums something like "alledged criminals" and he seems to have some deeper relationship with them because when the limo driver tells him where he's bringing Dougie he says something like "you're going to like it". Not saying it's all perfect, but it seems like he trusts the Mitchums and is afraid of someone else. Now there'll be definitely some consequences on the other insurance guy and on Duncan Todd I believe. Also, remember the poster in Mullins room? The four rounds thing? A lot of people speculated there would be four rounds for Dougie/Coop (as four attempts of murdering him). How many can we count now?

1. Shooters lurking outside Rancho Rosa

2. Mine on the car @ Rancho Rosa

3. Ike the Spike with the gun

4. Mitchum Brothers + pie

If this hypothesis is correct, Coop might come back after Mr. Todd's man tries to kill him.

I'm getting tangential here, but that's why I suspect Candie was possessed by Mike (and might explain why she's acting so strange sometimes but not others (of course all 3 pink girls act pretty spacey sometimes).

I think she was lured into swatting the Mitchum brother so the fast healing of the bruise could be used as evidence by the other Mitchum brother after Mike planted the thought in his dream.  If so, Mike is really working overtime to help Coop out.

I think your theory is shot...

I wouldn't rule out this theory, but I think it all depends on the nature of Mike, which has never been explained thoroughly and I think it might have changed in the author's mind as well over time.
