Funny how people react to things.  In all my life I've never once seen a movie or tv show, or for that matter, read a book that scared me.  One or two things - real life things, that is - that I've seen on tv or read about have really made me sad or depressed but that's the extent of it.

I could never understand why some kids got scared of Doctor Who; the whole "hiding behind the sofa" thing was alien (no pun intended) to me.  I loved every minute of it.  I used to watch all the old Frankenstein and Dracula movies with my Granny, too.  Great stuff.

Fiction - any fiction - never gets to me in the same way as real life, even if I enjoy it.

I should point out, though, that I did become a cannibalistic serial killer later in life.  😉

Four scenes in this series have "scared" or rather produced physical reactions in me:

- the "Experiment Mother" appearing in the box Episode 1, masterful building of tension by Lynch particularly the soundtrack, my heart was thumping fast
- the Chromatics in the Roadhouse at the end of Episode 2, I started shaking when the credits rolled.  I think it was just something to do with Peaks being back after 25 years and all the long build up since the announcement of a third series.  It was like being back home.
- Laura Palmer appearing at Cole's door, Ep 10.  Completely unexpected.  I jumped a mile.
- DoppelCoop vomiting up the garmonbozia in Ep 3.  I was watching on my own, headphones on, lights off and unbeknown to me my daughter, who couldn't sleep, came creeping up on me and tapped me on the shoulder just as Coop spewed up the stuff!

Well, predictions it not so much my cup of coffee, but what about expectations? I'm hoping for a scene that will scare the shit out of me! A scene that will make me deeply traumatized for weeks. Like Ronette Polaski's flashback/dream in the original run.

That scene had a profound effect on me back in 1990. Terrible disturbance for weeks. I said I wouldn't watch this series after dark, alone my wife was away after part 2 until part 10 last week. Nothing so far has had the same impact in that sense. Maybe we've been conditioned with everything that's been and gone since. That said when the experiment appeared out of the glass box, I was thinking, okay, here we go...

That was the scene that ended with Bob screaming demonically inside the train car, right?  It instantly made me think of the creature out on the wing of the plane in the Twighlight Zone movie.

My prediction:

Coop will turn up at work, brain still fried from the good seeing to he got the night before, then whip out his knob in the boardroom and start waving it at all the women there.

Mullins will think Coop is still trying to communicate in code, so he'll calm the situation down somewhat and take Coop - still avec knob out - into his office for a chat.

Janey-E will burst in on them and, jumping to the wrong conclusion, accuse them both of having an affair, but being a modern woman, will accept that "Dougie" could well be coming to terms with having a mutable sexuality.  She won't be happy to share "Dougie" with Mullins, though, and leaves the building feeling somewhat agitated.

Outside, the casino guys spot her and have a chat, convincing her to take the gun they offer, go back in and waste her no good, cheating, ambisexual husband.  Outside, the statue falls over, and crushes the brothers to bloody pulp.

Meanwhile, Truman, Hawk, Bobby and Andy all take a trip to the Jack Rabbit's Palace, and, finding it's really a 1950's themed burger bar, they realize they took a wrong turn and ended up in Pulp Fiction.

Believe me, it starts to get really crazy from then on.

My honest predictions (so 0% chance any of this will happen).

-  "There's fire where you are going"

-  "Got a light?"

These are connected.  The "....are going" suggests that they may not get wherever that is during Episode 11, but the journey may have begun. And we can't be sure if that is Jack Rabbit's palace, the coordinates location, or even somewhere else that we are led to.

I still think something is missing related to Dale Cooper.  I don't think the  missing diary page was the only thing the log lady's  original message meant.  And that would  mean that Hawk still has to find it somehow relating to his heritage.  I think it's Cooper's shoes and that they are causing that humming in the Great Northern, having been expelled from the purple world  (since they don't belong there).

- The log lady's last message to Hawk, I'm hoping, is suggesting he's about to go on a vision quest through time and space to get a better appreciation for what is going on.  "Watch and listen do the dream of time and space.  It all comes flowing out now."  I'm hoping we get some totally Lynched-out, hold on to your horses, raises as many questions as it answers dream sequence from Hawk here soon.  Hawk may have to enter the lodge himself to find what happened to Cooper.

- You guys know my longshot theories on Candie  (Laura?) and Tammy Preston (Jeffries?)  already.

In my haste, I forgot to mention the Roadhouse gig, which will be as follows:

Dame Kiri Te Kanawa will be making a guest appearance, along with a specially re-formed Throbbing Gristle, for a rousing rendition of "Fuckin' 'Ell, It's Fred Titmus", as written and originally performed by Half Man Half Biscuit.

James will try to join in and be beaten about the head with a MiniMoog by Genesis P-Orridge, while Dame Kiri lays into him with the mike stand and puts the boot in.

Apologies to non-Brits for the somewhat obscure musical content but I assure you the bands, people and song involved are all for real.

At some point I am expecting that the Steven-Becky-Shelly-Norma story-line will link with Red-Jean Michel-Richard(with Red and his entourage as possible suitors for Shelly and/or Becky, trouble for Shelly, Becky, Steven and James here, the new 'guys with flashy cars in town', new Leos, etc., alongside Steven also being on the verge of turning into Leo with that 'I dont even make you clean' line).  Maybe Richard will kill Chad once he finds out about that letter not being taken care, but I am thinking we will get a more explicit link with 'Linda' the giant talked about(Richard and Linda, two birds with one stone, Linda is in a wheelchair, crippled like Johnny, one and the same).  Also, Richard has yet to visit 'Mary Anne' his friend with the cocaine from Red, who was used by Red to shake Richard to the core; but if Richard is leaving town he would probably stop by there to 'wind up' whatever business is going on there....

In general I am expecting that a lot of the episode will be reintegrating old characterless and elements that were not directly in the last episode, pace from episode to episode seems to be like that, since it needs to develop all of the plot lines it has started; so in general I would expect to see a solid presence of characters we haven't seen in a while, and plot lines that are not directly following from the last episode(the only one breaking this trend has been the Dougie/Mr. C cooper story, which has more presence than anything).....

I think next for Dougie is a chat with Mullins about his symbols. Hopefully the Fuscos find out that he is not actually Dougie. The fire where you're going line might actually be for Becky, or one of the other younger characters mixed up in their bad shit.

I'll be honest - I'm a grown man and that scene gave me the willies at nighttime for several days.

I don't know what to expect. I'd like some lodge or origin scenes that start tying things together.

But if I had my way it wouldn't be the same - have to be patient and watch it unfold at its own pace 🙂

"There's fire where your going" are the words muttered by Dougie when he has to return to the doctor for a private exam from the STD he received from either Jayne E or Jayde.

Candie is revealed to be inhabited by Laura Palmer. The other two girls at the casino with her are inhabited by Maddie and Annie as well.

Jerry cuts his own foot off and it goes to the Roadhouse to perform with James on vocals the song from season 2

I can predict that there is a fade to black after the opening credits have played out.

Those couple of seconds are almost the best moments as I am filled with such a wonderful feeling. WTF is about to happen?

I also love the 15/16 second teasers they put out on YouTube that drop about 7 or so hours earlier than the transmission here in yrev, very rainy New Zealand!
