Around the dinner table, the conversation was lively. Thank you but for now, the forum has been archived.
At the end of the episode, when the Mitchum brothers call Dougie their friend, it sounds like he replies "Friend, no." Anyone else notice that? It seemed like some of the old Dale bluntness/sarcasm surfaced in that moment.
Others have been saying this as well. I didn't hear it; just thought he said "friend" with food in his mouth. Might have to check it out again, I guess.
I'm not sure - but I think there's a definite presence when he says 'Damn good' & even though he's back to being vague afterwards, his eyes are much more active...

That could either be a "no" or a throat sound from choking down pie...I can't tell. I do have a pet theory that Dale's been back for a while, pretending to be an idiot to gather intel and assess his situation, but my "pet" may die....

Oh, you can join me & my pet theories of there being a message in people standing in a strange way with one hand on hip and Diane wearing a wire & being monitored by Mr C/ the 'baddies' Both of which are based on the flimsiest of evidence!
I've listened to it 100x and I hear it both ways. Both as "friend" with the emphasis on the final sound, and as "friend, no".
The smile from the elder Mitchum brother does seem a bit creepy afterwards.
Rodney Mitchum's smile is part of the reason I think he's saying "friend, no." It's the type of smile you see in a gangster film when a subordinate speaks critically to his boss, but in a way that is unexpectedly endearing to said boss (because it shows guts, etc).
