The last thought of my theory as for the Evil Coop's Ace of Spades card / ring symbol / owl cave is that it's ''the Mother'' but now i'm thinking it might be something else.. After watching the ep 11 and the scene of Gordon and the portal i'm starting to believe the symbol maybe it depicts the portal between Twin Peaks.
I'm not sure there's a way of knowing yet, but I suspect it's so bad that Hawk doesn't want to tell Truman. I don't think a portal would be that scary, but maybe he thinks Truman can't handle that kind of information or would dismiss it. I thought that it looks a lot like the owl ring shape, and perhaps the owl ring shape is a crude version of it. It also seems rather Mother-like from Ep 8. The ring predates the detonation and that symbol is on Hawk's very old map. Because it's in space near the moon and stars, it strikes me that it would be in the air. I think it's an entity, but would probably come through a portal at least 🙂
There seem to be three types of portal:
1) Glastonbury Grove - Red Curtains - Black Lodge Waiting Room - Mike, Bob, MFAP, The Arm, Laura, Leland, etc.
2) Sky Portals / Black Holes, Woodsmen, etc. Ending up in the convenience store?
3) Electrical sockets - Purple world, etc
I suggest that Chet Desmond disappeared through a Type 2 portal. Cole looked like he was about to until Albert pulled him out
In the secret history the discovery of portals in many locations is talked about.
They seem to also have different histories. The land tied historic ones were near geological features and made from long slow energy. The invention of electricity seems to have added a quick more instant access between the worlds, albeit still difficult and needed a timed alignment. The atom bomb seemed to create a rift that made access portals in the air. What gets me is that originally the woodsmen/greys descend freely. It appears as time has passed they need people present to descend.
I will say the part of the secret history that really has me bothered is the implication that there were two entities "giant nordic types" who offered technology if we stopped atomic bomb testing, but the US Government declined the deal. The technology seemed to be means of communicating between the worlds or seeing between the worlds. The grey which I take to be the woodsmen like entities offer a deal of technology for genetic material. Everything implies that the government agreed to that deal.
This makes me think more and more that they need people, and some people serve their purposes better than others.
I wonder if most of what we see in Twin Peaks is a grooming and search for good hosts so they can walk among us and feast on pain and suffering.

I like this idea. We were looking at it as one cohesive symbol instead of three separate but conjoined parts.

Now I realise where I'd seen the portal scene before, or rather part of. It was in a trailer on ShowTime's YouTube channel published in December 2015 - TP - Now in Production. I recall at the time there was talk of it being a silver haired Leland, but no, it was Gordon almost getting sucked into the vortex.

It's funny to look back on the trailer again and the expectation we all had about what the Return was going to be like. Oh my, how we've been, hmm, mesmerised? And so much more 🙂
