If this has been talked about yet, I didn't notice the discussion.
After the limo pulls up, Mr. Mullins tells Dougie Coop to "Knock 'em dead." In another one of those flashes of at least semi-comprehension, Dougie Coop's response is to squish his own face and repeat the word, "Dead." It's a reference to Bad Cooper killing Jack in ep. 2 by squishing his face. - Right?
Jack and Dougie are both zombie like characters, don't talk, just drained of the productivity of their activity then disposed of......
(Might be a poor first post on the forum, but fan since the original run in the early 90's. Hello y'all!)
I don't think this is as much a reference as an actual connection. What if part of Dale's consciousness is actually in Bad Cooper? Wouldn't that be something, if he's actually in there riding along and witnessing whatever Bad Coop is doing?
After watching episode 9 I was wondering if it was just a coincidence that Bad Cooper seemed more stable and human. Especially after the rather robotic and zombie like state he was in at the prison. Maybe that was Dale peeking out?

Ah! Thanks - I searched but didn't notice a thread already started on this. Thanks. Here's the link to that original thread:
Murat Erol Özkan, your reply was interesting, but there's a lot more to it than just what you posted.
Tommy_Sjoberg - exactly, it's a definite connection. I said "reference" in terms of elements in the full screenplay for The Return. I see there's conversation here on the thread about Bad and Good Coop sharing consciousness - problems arising from that are sure to get worse!
