That's a damn good analysis, Murat. Makes sense, particularly your look at his seemingly passive role, which somehow gets stuff done with the minimum of fuss and effort.
I just realised what Carl & his whistle reminded me of! It was my very favourite programme when I was wee:
I think we need a crossover episode between Twin Peaks & Puff n stuff!
Murat's last entry made me think of the Witches in Discworld; the most powerful and therefore most dangerous are the ones who don't like to do magic, don't use any special equipment (a bucket of water instead of a seeing globe, an ordinary twig, rather than a specially crafted wand) and generally keep a low profile.
Even the Wizards, being lads and therefore daft, know the wisdom of keeping their gobs shut and not doing magic all over the shop.
Both the Witches and Wizards usually let things take their own course and their influence is inferred, rather than overt.

We need:
Twin Peaks/Doctor Who crossover
Twin Peaks/Discworld crossover
Twin Peaks/Batman (Nolan version) crossover

Though we'd have to do Dr Who with Peter Capaldi - the thought of him doing some Malcolm Tucker style swearing with Diane would be brilliant! 🙂
Capaldi is one of my all time favourite actors, anyhow. Best Who so far, and I watched it from the first ever episode.
I'll even forgive his "Rabbit in the headlights" performance in Lair of the White Worm, which is, arguably, the daftest movie ever made.
Oh, I would watch him reading the phone book - I think he's fantastic!
Who is Peter Capaldi?
And who is Doctor Who?
?
(I'd bevver shut up now and judd go to bed)
Whoa! Extermination's a bit much!!!
That'll teach me to think the Beverley/Judd reference was funny and clever.
(Those daleks used to make me hide behind the sofa, back in the daft old days of John Pertwee...)
Was the whistle a call back to Cooper's whittled whistle in Season 1? Or am I reaching?
I just rewatched that episode and as soon as he did that little "toot toot!" on the whistle I was thinking "JUST LIKE CARL!" Haha, so no that may have been intentional when you think of all the different ways you could use a whistle to signal someone. 😀
I also love how Carl has evolved in this season. He seems so much more content with where he is. Maybe he just really needed to get out of Deer Meadow. I was admiring how he has the same "never ever before 9am" sign that he had in FWWM but now it's all nice and on a white picket fence post and surrounded by roses.
Am I the only one who thinks that Carl Rudd's character is very different from in FWWM. He seems far more compassionate and caring in this series.
I wonder if something in particular happened that changed him?
