How DL saved for Part 10 both the Log Lady's long message ( a bliss to still see her alive in part 10 of the show) and RDR performing a song cowritten by him  (the same singer at a key transitional point in Mulholland Drive) makes me think that the idea of this episode was to set the plot clear (matters explained by log's message and lyrics of the song) ...sort of a pre-denouement.

The humming reference immediately makes you think of the Great Northern and whatever is going on there, which seems to be suggested might be connected to the waterfall.  Hydroelectricity, perhaps?

The "no stars" song is absolutely haunting if you think about it from the standpoint of a fire going out in the universe.  If some scientists are correct, after the heat-death of the observable universe - that's what is in store of all matter around us for eternity.  No stars.  Maybe just a few, rapidly cooling embers where once mighty stars shed light onto various worlds around them, who in turn perhaps were the scene for any number of untold dramas played out by the curious creatures that inhabited their surfaces.   But not any more. Now they are gone, just a shadow of what remains.  And on the cosmic scale - that period of nothingness/empty blackness carries on forever and ever and ever, until the entire era of stars/sunlight was but just a fleeting moment, lost and forgotten.

Meh, oh well.  Something with Bob and the evil that men do has thrown existence terribly out of balance. One suspects that the ??????'s warning about it being, "In our house now," is a warning that dark forces have, for the moment, usurped some control from those forces intended to balance them out, but that shall hopefully be resolved in the end.

Hawk.  Electricity is humming.  You hear it in the mountains and rivers. You see it dance among the seas and stars and glowing around the moon, but in these days the glow is dying. What will be in the darkness that remains?  The Truman brothers are both true men. They are your brothers. An the others, the good ones who had been with you…Now the circle is almost complete. Watch and listen to the dream of time and space.  It all comes out now, flowing like a river. That which is and is not. Hawk. Laura is the one.

Then the song: “No starts”.

The first part made me think of the opening titles... the rivers and the mountains. Replayed the opening titles, and the first thing we hear, before the music starts, is a humming sound. Accompanied by a golden ring (Laura-orb/soul?) hovering in front of the prom picture of Laura. So I connect the humming electricity (the glow/light/life in the world) with Laura and the golden circle. "Laura is the one".

As the previous poster mentioned, there is also the humming sound in the Great Northern. Is this humming similar to the sound in the opening titles? I think I'll try to go back and check.

I get the impression that there may be competing timelines going on here, but attempt to connect the Log Lady/Hawk phonecalls to that keeps coming up short; specifically because Hawk basically sits Truman down and explains to him the original message, how he found the diary, and then they go from there in terms of acquiring the Major's message.  So that has to be all sequential there.

Side note - notice that Hawk always has a cabin made from Lincoln logs on his desk.

What's really weird for me (and others) is the timeline of the whole Andy interactions with the mysterious dude-at-the-place-where-the-hit-and-run-truck-was-found and everything on this Richard Horne arch.  I won't be surprised if we find out later on that all took place years ago or something.  Maybe not, but it's possible.  You don't see Hawk or Truman in those scenes.

Related to the Log Lady's message; I thought it was cryptic that she mentioned the Truman brothers by name and called them good people.  We know Hawk's other compadre in the constabulary (disgusting Chad) to be a nefarious pile of pond scum.  But what of Andy?  I have to admit...I'm starting to worry about him.

From Lucy's rambling dialogue, there's the suggestion that he's been confused on time (a typicl Andy thing to do).  We know he purchased shoes from Mike/Gerrard back in the original series (right at the time that there was weird stuff going on whenever Donna would wear Laura's sunglasses - so a connection to clothing seemed to be being established).  And then we saw him letting that "suspect" at the house (no clue who he was) tell him to leave, and then not show up at 4:30.  And we've not seen him discuss anything about this, or anything involving the investigation surrounding the death of the child in the intersection with anyone.  Given how caught up in the death of a high school girl the entire town was in the 90s, the vehicular manslaughter related death of a small child at the town intersection seems to not be a topic of much gossip.

Wally Brando called his parents "such good people".  I really hope that holds true.  Because if an evil entity like Bob could trick intelligent people like Leland to allow him in, I'm pretty sure clumsy old Andy wouldn't stand much of a chance.

Yes, I am waiting for a guru that can figure out the different time plots (hawk/loglady vs richard/chad/andy vs las vegas, etc.) if these are really happening.

I think Hawk is the only one, in Twin Peaks (aside from Margaret), who truly understands the gravity and importance of the mystery they're uncovering is. He needed affirmation of his intuitions and also in the trust that he has in those that are investigating along side him. The Log Lady did that for him and now he is ready to help the others understand what he does and lead them.

Such a powerful scene and exchange between them.

Could suggest some things that have happened so far are merely "could haves" and may not point to actual reality in the twin peaks timeline.

Never noticed, but now that you pointed this out it's also funny how the actor that played the main woodsman in part 8 has made a career as a Lincoln's (Abe) lookalike (basically every other role his credited for on IMDB is a potrayal of Lincoln). Not implying anything, I just thought it was funny.

"Electricity is humming.... Laura is the one."

As I rewatch part 3 I wonder if this might mean somebody is travelling through a socket again... maybe at the Great Northern... maybe Laura Palmer.
