To combine and riff off what dannycoco4 and charlesheld are saying (and based on the earlier observations that this letter may not be the one we thought it was): perhaps in such a small town, Miriam might have even spoken directly to the mailman (people still do that sometimes) and conveyed to him the importance of the letter getting to the Sheriff (as opposed to just the police department).
Lol, this made me think, and probably I'm going to say the dumbest thing of all times but what the hell, what if she just sent an email? I mean that's mail too. Do people still write letters these days?
I don't really believe it's an email by the way, but it would be funny.
meaxylon, I like that: Otherwise I'm hoping Miriam by mistake mailed her letter to the other Sheriff Truman ?
I wasn't thinking THAT Sheriff Truman. But that would presume she would have some other address.
Also, she said she already spoke to the police, right? Andy, Bobby, Hawk, Lucy, Trumans, someone other than Chad probably. They could still probably connect the dots even if the real letter was gone, but I really like that it's the wrong name and he's too daft to realize it.
FITP, I think she said I put in the mail, but would have to go back and listen. But that would be a good misdirection too based on assumptions!
I live in a small town Bennington VT and we can get mail in the same day and we are bigger than Twin Peaks. I think it depends on how the mail is processed if your route is sorted before the destination side is delivered it can happen.
I think the investigation into the hit and run is in the future compared to the events around the search for the lodge. The thread on Andy's watch reading the 10th, or a week after the portal opens.
Also noting anything to do with the hit and run and Richard Horne even at the police station does not have Hawk, Truman or Bobby. I am wondering if what opens on 10/2 pushes Richard over the edge.
I think Chad is going to get caught with the letter in his shirt but that thread may be saved until the end. I do think Richard set the trailer to explode, I remember watching the light in the window trying to figure out why two dots of light kept appearing and when I saw the candle it made sense.
I wonder who she told at the Police Station, my guess is it was Chad or was it Andy. There was a lot to unwind in that scene and the violence kicked in quickly distracting.

Ha, I'm not sure either, and I don't really believe the mail thing, I guess it will be discovered after quite some time, I just thought it would be hilarious especially after Richard was panicking to make Chad deal with the letter and Chad did like the worst acting job in the world, only for sheriff Truman to sit on his desk and find out on his email.
Just noting the letter Chad intercepted was addressed to the station in general. Like Rob mentioned, Miriam could've mailed something to Harry or Frank's home address instead.
I noticed she was breathing as well. Unfortunately, her living or dying seems to be hinging on Tammy's hope or something similar, because the investigation into the boy's death has been lacking.
I started a thread the other day, since this has been a common complaint. I'm fairly sure the boy's death has happened in the future, the timelines probably aren't lined up, as we've heard Truman saying it's 9/29 in part 9, yet when Andy is waiting for the farmer we get a close shot of his wristwatch and there's the day of the month, which is 10. I'll also give a better look at details in the TP scenes of part 10 to see if there's more evidence about the date (like in the mail or something).
I never heard this before! I have to rewatch! What episode was that?
Marv forgot the 8 in his zip code in the letter below 9184 instead of 98184 which is odd that a town as small as Twin Peaks would have two 98185 and 98184.
She'd probably die of asphyxiation before the explosion - if any - happened. ISTR the gas used in these places - LPG? - is heavier than air, and with her being on the floor, her lungs would fill up with it pretty quickly. That and she's bleeding out all over the shop won't do her much good.

I know as much about zip codes as you probably know about UK postal codes, so that would go straight over me head.
Going back over it...
Yep, it would appear Chad's taken the wrong letter. But then, he's not the sharpest bulb in the shed.
I know "Sharpest bulb" is wrong but... well, it's right for reasons too long and complicated to go into right now. Just think "Covfefe" and all will become clear.

Part 7. I posted a picture and my theory here.
Actually, now I think that it doesn't really matter which letter is taken by Chad, even Andy alone could figure out who attacked Miriam, it's too easy: she told police, she warned neighbours if anything happens to her who to blame, we really don't need Sherlock here.
I don't recall her warning neighbors. When Richard asked if she told anybody else, she said No. Presuming she was truthful, she only spoke to "the police". In the letter she told Sheriff Truman "if anything happens to me, it was you who did it".
As an aside, I just noticed the yard angel outside her trailer...
What on earth is a "Yard Angel", other than what it appears to be? I mean, I see an angel figurine there but what's the significance?
BTW, doesn't anyone else find it odd that angels are almost invariably portrayed as pretty girlies with wings, when, according to the standard mythology, they're God's Enforcers; great big guys with power swords and other weapons of mass destruction?
