There's so much talk about colours and their significance in this show. Red (obviously) especially. Blue Rose (Blue Velvet, anyone?), lodges, waiting rooms and shoes. Can someone please enlighten in a 'to the point' fashion about what the choices of colours allude to?

These are just my interpretations:

Red: Danger, Violence (Blood), Stop light, warning. But also Passion, Sexuality, Love. The Heart. Something deep within. Our life pulse. Desire, Wants.

Blue: Mystery ("Blue Rose" cases). Intuitiveness. Water.

Black: Darkness, death. Absence of light. Night.

Gold: Lauras orb was golden, the hit and run boy's soul was golden. The sun, light, life. The highest and purest "form". The most valuable essence.

Green: Green-lights: Move forward. The forest? Natural, connected to earth/nature.

Don't forget that our main green is Jade.

The Jade Owl Ring, Jade the prostitute.  We're also seeing a lot of green money change hands.  A green flash of light on the lying Anthony Sinclair to let Cooper know he's lying.  Cooper's green room key.
