Around the dinner table, the conversation was lively. Thank you but for now, the forum has been archived.
I suspect that this takes place in the future of our world, after Coop's mind is back to normal. The Giant says "You are far away" and the message of "Linda & Richard, 430, two birds with one stone" is understood by Coop. If still in the Black Lodge, he wouldn't know who Linda & Richard are. At the end Coop vanishes from where the Giant is.
I rewatched the 1 episode last night and one thing keep bugging me - Cooper in that scene is without his FBI badge.
Is it possible, that this scene is happening with Dougie? When Giant says "Agent Cooper." Dale didn't answer anything to him. In the next scenes with Kyle MacLachlan in the Red Lodge he wears the badge.
Just another theory:
This meeting with the Giant is happening with Good Dale, who is not yet Agent Dale Cooper.
He actually remains silent after the Giant's "Agent Cooper.". Then they listen to the sounds and the Giant says "It is in our house now.", Coop only repeat his words "It is" (which is basically what Dougie is doing). Then the Giant give his "Remember 430." speach and only after that Coop is clear: "I understand." It seems like "450", "Richard and Linda", etc. are the things he needed to remember to became fully Agent Cooper.
Also, "Two birds with one stone" - is it possible that he means two lovebirds with one stone, a.k.a. that strange egg from the last episode, and Richard and Linda being those boy and girl in New Mexico?

This makes so much sense. Great catch !

Doesn't it seem like the scene early in episode 2 with Hawk walking through the woods and Margaret calling him is also from much later in the story?
Hawk says, "there's supposed to be something happening here tonight", and he then comes across the copse of sycamore and the black lodge comes into view.
I'm thinking the "...supposed to be happening here tonight" is in reference to info we see him get in later episodes, yes? He also doesn't mention this Black Lodge encounter in subsequent scenes with Andy, Lucy, etc., and it's momentous enough that he probably would, right? At least to Frank perhaps.
I think the giant has captured Judy and is giving Cooper the info on how to deal with the new deminsion in the end at Odessa.

His lapel badge disappeared when he passed through the number 3 electricity thingy and entered the 'real' world, just after Dougie went to the Red Room.
