Around the dinner table, the conversation was lively. Thank you but for now, the forum has been archived.
As you may have noticed, there are three ongoing issues with the forum:
- The search function had to be disabled.
Topics are getting moved to inaccurate forums without interference.- You cannot register with just an e-mail address.
I'm aware of these major issues caused by bugs and incompatibilities in the forum software. I'm very sorry for the inconvenience and I hope to be able to fix these soon.
Thanks Pieter. I would like to report that I'm not able to log on into the forum using my password. Whenever I tried, I saw a message stating that my password was incorrect and I also got a message stating that the form contains some "errors" in it.
I was finally able to login after using "the login via Facebook profile" option.
I had a similar issue. I had my account tied to my Facebook account, but then tried to link it to my twitter account. That must have messed something up, because the attempt to connect the twitter account failed and after that, I was unable to sign in with my existing account at all. Finally had to resort to creating a new account tied to my Twitter account, and orphan my existing account.
I take this opportunity to thank you and the other moderators (if any) for this site!
As a forum development hobbyist myself (wedge.org, used for instance at lestrades.com), I find this one hard to get used to. I understand the limitations (WTTP is using WordPress and you wanted to use a forum that interfaces with its user base, I suppose.) But there's nothing that says you can't have a third-party forum that simply syncs its userbase with Wordpress'.
Having no way to disable WYSIWYG is a big issue for me. No BBCode or MarkDown is a problem too. Overall it's very hard to remove quoted contents (unless you edit the html itself), so you end up with tons of posts that just reproduce the entirety of the previous post.
I'm not going to plug my own work (I don't have a lot of time on my hands anyway), but really if you're looking for a better forum system and you just feel inadequate at installing & maintaining something or simply couldn't find a good, free, fast forum out there, you can always ask me. I'm pretty sure a WordPress forum to Wedge converter is possible, or even already done. As for the graphic theme, this kind of thing is always embeddable.
I'm just saying because sometimes people just can't bother until someone else offers help. So I'm offering help, to the extent of the time I have available. (I should probably have offered it back when I started lurking on the forum, eh?)

Thanks so much for offering help. Based on tons of good reviews and the level of support, I went with the minimal wpForo software instead of the much more popular bbPress for WordPress. Unfortunately, as I found out on-the-fly, it's far from perfect either. But I'm afraid there's no easy way to migrate posts to different software, like Wedge.
- Of course it's doable. It just requires extra work. OpenImporter by eurich on github supports moving between WordPress and smf-based boards like wedge or elkarte. I don't know if it also extends to wpforo but it's still doable.
- Additionally, if you're not very comfortable with php or JavaScript, I could always work on fixing your bugs. That'd be faster but it'd make it harder to update the software later.
Currently it is not letting me post a topic, when I submit it acts like I did nothing. Maybe later on it will be fixed.
How do I delete my own topic??!!
I recently joined and posted a topic. I would like to edit my post, but this functionality seems to have disappeared. Any ideas why this might be? Thanks.

Ignore this - I have an answer.
You probably all know this already, but in case you don't - you can only edit posts for one hour after they are live.
