Hey, there, everyone! Twin Peaks was always (also) about music which is "too dreamy", and The Return gives special attention to this with the Roadhouse performances bookending each narrative unit.
So, whose music would you love to see colliding with the Twin Peaks universe, with a gig at the Roadhouse? I always thought Tom Waits would be an awesome addition to Lynch's list of collaborators, even if he only played a song somewhere. So, I'd love to see him onstage at the Roadhouse, singing "Dirt in the Ground" or "Hoist that Rag" while Deputy Chad and Richard Horne are in the receiving end of some heavy karmic justice.
Plus, I'd love to see the surreal imagery of The Residents up there, perhaps playing an old tune called "Cry for the Fire".
What about you? Who'd be Lynchian enough in your opinion to sing with the owls at Twin Peaks?
Erm, my old band, King Dice. Nothing to do with a guy named King Dice who is currently doing the rounds, I hasten to add. I've been using the name since 1982 so I reckon if anyone has the right to use it, it's me.
Anyhow, our stuff would most likely be something that'd fit with the general vibe of Peaks, although we're more in the direction of NIN than some of the plinky plunk stuff that's shown at the Roadhouse.
We're theoretically still a going concern but since me songwriting partner relocated to Bulgaria last year, it makes jamming together a bit of a challenge.
As for others you'd have - possibly - heard of, I'd suggest Killing Joke, Talking Heads (as was) and, obviously, Bowie. The Fall would probably fit right in, too, now I come to think of it.
THE FALL!!!! <3 Nice thing you're in a band, Sam! Do you have any material for streaming?
Great idea.
I reckon Pixies' Silver would fit in. Hope Sandoval would be great and I think Spiritualized's Shine a Light or Lay Back in the Sun would go perfectly with Becky's chemical-fueled euphoric smile.
Thin White Rope or Mark Lanegan for menacing moments...

Sadly, no. We were trying to get stuff recorded but life kept getting in the way, you know, marriages, divorces, illness, bereavements, kids and all that stuff. I think there's an old video of us playing an outdoor thing from a few years ago, up on You Tube. There's me - a little guy with a red Strat, and my buddy, a great big guy on keyboards. That's about it, I think.
Maybe some godspeed you! black emperor or mogwai would fit well.
My fav band to see which I think would fit well would be Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.
Just been listening to this in the bath & I think it would be PERFECT!

Follow by The Duke Spirit.
I'm wondering whether Kid Moxie is going to turn up in the series, she seems to have the right connexions.
I have been having this discussion for weeks now with some friends and I would REALLY love to see some local Washington bands in there. You know, the type who would actually trudge their little butts up to somewhere like Twin Peaks on their big tour to Missoula.
A few weeks ago I saw Mos Generator play at the Valley in Tacoma. The back of the stage is a red velvet curtain. Coincidence or intentional, I don't know. But Mos Generator has some interesting sludgy yet pretty lyrically driven stuff that I think would fit in, not so much in the "dreamy" style, but in the intense confusion of current storyline.
As a side note, it was recently brought to my attention that Earwig Studio in Seattle actually created a Red Room/Waiting room in their studio and take pics in there of all the bands that record there. It's very cool.

Well, since Shawn Colvin was featured in Part 11 with her rendition of Viva Las Vegas, I thought I'd share this... probably my favorite from her earlier days... if you listen closely, you can hear a guy playing the 'hub-cap'... Hope you can hear the lyrics 🙂
Steady On/ Shawn Colvin
Frankly, I'm quite surprised that Chelsea Wolfe hasn't appeared at the Roadhouse (yet).
There are certain bands that I think should not appear. Nick Cave for instance would just be too similar to the show itself so it would kind of be 'doubling up' without adding anything. So to some extent I'm glad the band's that have been chosen haven't just been goth bands. Chromatics seemed like not a bad choice!
I thought that Anohni might be a good choice but then felt like that might be a bit overpowering and detract too much from the balance of the show.
So anyway, her are my bookings of choice:
Scott Walker (he'd never do it) / Swans (for Episode 8) / Zola Jesus / Fever Ray (too obvious?) / Effi Briest / Connan Moccasin / Pharmakon / Shannon Funchess / Serpentwithfeet (to do Jimmy Scott cover) / Alan Vega (died in 2016).
