Around the dinner table, the conversation was lively. Thank you but for now, the forum has been archived.
I read in the Wikipedia entry that Mr Lynch visited the north of England to photograph old industrial sites. It says he has a fondness for industrial sites and big machinery making stuff. That resonates with me, which is one of the reasons I like his work, I guess.
Wish I'd known at the time; I live in the area, and could have given him a guided tour around the former industrial heart of Sheffield. It was really impressive in its day, then extremely depressing when everything ground to a halt and closed down.
Driving through in the rain one day, it inspired me to write a song named "Rust".
Now, things look much better through the region. Sheffield enjoyed a revival, the old industrial areas have been modernized and rebuilt. Once it was a really grim and gloomy place but now it's pretty damn good, like coffee.
Would have loved to bump into Mr Lynch, though.

Fascinating, I live in Sheffield, cool to know we may have walked the same streets.
I no longer live in Sheffield, although some of my family are still there. I live just along the road a bit, in Wath. I lived at Rivelin Valley for 15 years, with my first wife.
The present Mrs Therapy is a Wath lass and finds Sheffield too big and busy for her liking, particularly driving around there.
