I like that description/analogy.

And I definitely remember Jack Handy.

What if he is literally that - "a fire man"? I came across this on Sunday:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pneuma_(Stoic)

I was particularly struck by this part:

  • The pneuma as soul. The pneuma in its most rarefied and fiery form serves as the animal soul (psychê); it pervades the organism, governs its movements, and endows it with powers of perception and reproduction.[5] This concept of pneuma is related to Aristotle's theory that the pneuma in sperm conveys the capacity for locomotion and for certain sensory perceptions to the offspring.[6]

You could argue this is a reasonable description of The Fireman in part 8, giving some form of existence to Laura. And possibly Coop in the Roadhouse in the TOS, with extra sensory perception of mood to understand that another killing has occured.

This is what pointed me in the direction of the stoics:

https://www.encyclopedia.com/education/encyclopedias-almanacs-transcripts-and-maps/chaos-religious-and-philosophical-aspects

I was looking for more ideas/information on the balance between chaos and order, as ultimately I think this is the Fireman's purpose, and was intrigued by this:

"The Stoics understood chaos as referring to the watery state that occurs periodically when the universe is destroyed by fire."

What caught my attention was the idea of the universe being destroyed by fire. I thought it was worth looking into.

Yeah, if you get around to it.

Funny.   We have gathered from far and wide in this forum, and The Stoics is another marvelous addition.  Thanks for that.

I also sampled from the youtube clip of Laura opening her diary.  Eventually I convinced myself that the record scratch probably did originate from that diary sound, but of course a gifted professional sound engineer did slightly better than my amateur free audio software goof around.  I'm hesitant to share it - it really is mucky.

I went with the audio of the diary back to back with the backwards same audio, changed the equalizer a bit, added some filters.  The timing is tricky, but again, I'm convinced that it's the correct source.

Could you post the link to the diary opening? Just watched FWWM  and it wasn't in there....

Bloody hell!

I just noticed that the owl ring symbol could be the twin peaks (the two mountains ) and what is the diamond? It could be a 3rd peak and mirrored to form a diamond.

Tried to find if anyone had brought it up previously, couldn't see anything. Jack Parsons was a particularly interesting dude in real life. Had combined interest in rockets and mysticism, and was a leader in Thelema and the early days of Scientology. So that's neat.

It's from the Missing Pieces, and someone here had already posted the link.  Chris maybe?  I dunno, but credit is due to someone...

So...

I didn't look too hard, but it seems that the very first post in Welcome to Twin Peaks forum was on 5/21/17, the opening night of airing.

I only saw just the one post.  On 5/22/17 things really took off.  That's exactly 10 months ago today.  And yet I suspect we're not at 'completion' just yet.  We are sure to hit the 1 year mark, no?  well played.

I'm pretty sure I'll still be here.  I still obsess daily about this damn show.

Agreed, Julie. I would need a bit more to be convinced. This did nothing for me, actually

I think the fireman played the sound to remind him that the sound was heard when Laura is whisked away in the woods

When Sarah takes off her face to the truck you guy...

Is the toothy smile the same as Bobs smile? Looks the same.

What does the one blackened finger mean?
