L/F and their lack of planning

It has become obvious to me that the interest in TP is waning, just based on the lack of posts here, the lack of podcasts, the lack of news stories etc etc etc.

L/F created this big ball of twine, at the center was a core mystery, at the outskirts it was a bunch of tangent, at lets be honest, not so tangent sub plots and mysteries.

But because it was abandoned in this state, the decay is premature in my opinion.  If they had prepared for their revival accordingly, we would have some more audio and video input from their side to propel the storylines further.

It was an excellent job on their part, just not sure that they are in tune with the age of social media and immediate input.

Interesting and quite possible.  I still wonder at so many things and flip flop between reactions/feelings.

If the show is truly over, aside from forum comraderie and banter, what else is there to talk about?

Can't really grasp what you're trying to criticize here.

I've been lurking for months, but haven't really participated. Haven't really seen anything new or fresh. I mean, many of us discussed each part to death before and after they aired.

I have introduced season three to several friends recently and discussed it with them. Should we have done so publicly so that you could've listened to it or participated?

Threads like this one aren't compelling at all. So it's no wonder there aren't many contributions to it.

Ironic isn't it?

If Lynch were in tune with the age of social media and immediate input, he wouldn't be Lynch, that's what so good about him, he stays true to himself and does art which is 200 times better than anything around here.

The point about Twin Peaks is to watch it and think about it, I don't think it needs to be nurtured constantly like bad news, it has to be enjoyed parcimoniously.

The Return grows bigger and bigger on me, I don't mind if Netflix junkies need their weekly  new addiction, Twin Peaks will remain and be talked about for many many centuries to come.

And the other side of that is that art gets to be interpreted, internalized, and (what's another "I" word I can use), and well, dealt with in any way the receiver sees fit. Different people process things differently, some parsimoniously, some not. It has left a pretty emotional mark on many and if they need to nurture it constantly like bad news, then so be it. I still flip flop back and forth between loving it for what it is and lamenting David Lynch for slapping us all with his obvious contempt for us....and all the possibilities in between.

Everybody's got to do what works for them.

Too much "everyone does whatever they want" can lead to wrong conclusions: No traces of contempt for the audience in it whatsoever. We all need a little guidance then and now (and here). Obviously.

Lol, well it's a good thing I didn't say "everybody does what they want." And who is to say what is a right or wrong conclusion. Yes Teo, we ALL need a little guidance now and then.  However, in those times between now and then, we get to shed the guidance and interpret/think for ourselves and express our own opinions. I sometimes DO feel that Lynch is showing contempt for us.  Not always, but I have tread there. That is my opinion and I have as much right to is as you do with your opinion of "no traces of contempt for the audience in it whatsoever."

And Jack gets to express his opinion.  And Caoi gets to express his opinion.  And they are all just that....opinions.....not facts but "a view or judgment formed about something, not necessarily based on fact or knowledge."

I think I have a difference of opinion on that matter.  It may not be a matter of contempt but there was a certain level of indifference at best.  When MILLIONS maybe even BILLIONS (with a B) of people are gut wrenched, torn asunder, and left holding the bag...something wasn't quite planned right.

In MY opinion of course, I mean besides the other 999, 999, 999, 999...

Brandy, of course everyone gets to express her or his opinion, nobody denies it here.

Jack, I disagree, there's no indifference, but let's say he doesn't think of the audience when he creates, which honestly is a good thing. Too many movies are made with audiences in mind. The Return needs to grow on people, the way a movie like Eyes Wide Shut did, and INLAND EMPIRE too.

The fact that nobody got a quick fix is a very good sign, art-wise.
