Forgive me if this has been covered. I haven't had chance to read all the wonderful discourse threads. I knew this episode would light a fire under us all as I was watching it. Pardon the pun. 🙂
So when Ray leaves the scene of spectres, he calls Jeffries and says, more or less, 'I think he's dead, but he's got help, so I'm not sure.' He goes on to say, 'I saw something in Cooper that may be what this thing is all about.'
It was only on my second viewing of this episode with all the lights off that I noticed a bubble of BOB staring out from around the stomach area of EvilCoop.
As a minor aside. What are people's opinions of what brought Evil Coop back from the 'dead'?

This is really interesting what is all about with Ray. I don't think anymore that he's some errand boy, he knows (some) things. Bear in mind how does he behave when "all the woodsman stuff" is happening or actually when speaking with Jeffries? He says that he saw something in Cooper and that he had helpers, just like he was talking about real people. So it looks like he was sort of prepared for something like that happening.
That clears up one thing for me - I was hearing "I saw something, Cooper" which was confusing if Ray is talking to Jeffries. Took me a few viewings to see "Bob" as well.
