A spiritual journey (Or a roadtrip in my head?)

Part 8 was really mindblowing in such different ways. Now, after some hours "rest" from it, it still haunts me with intense sad feelings (among others!) One particular scene made me cry like hell,  and the whole episode felt like a meditation. Cant stop thinking about it and feel somehow connected to it. Like this was the big version of my small universe. Did anyone have the same feelings about part 8?? I feel alone!

It was powerful and emotional, no doubts about that. To me, it mostly felt like a terrifying experience -- visceral and intense. On a certain level, I'd even venture to say 'hypnotic'. Good thing that there's a week-hiatus, because this will take time for the emotional dust to settle.

So, no, I'd say you're not alone.

(By the way: why not a spiritual journey AND a roadtrip through your head? 😉 )

No, you are not alone. In fact, this is exactly what Matt Zoller Seitz discusses in his latest review: "...a big part of what makes the new Twin Peaks so exhilarating is the way it forces us to watch television differently, process story and images differently, and look inward (toward our own thoughts and experiences) to figure out what happened and what it means, rather than looking outward toward the hive mind of social media. As I wrote after the show debuted, Lynch and Frost are rewiring our brains."

One thing's for certain, I definitely made a mistake in watching this past episode at three in the morning.  My insomnia combined with that Penderecki piece accompanying the bomb made for an interesting mental space.

First up, you are not alone, insignificant in a universe indifferent to our arrogance and suffering, or garmonbozia, I s'pose, yes. The strength of community helps us to reconcile that. We are being presented some monumental ideas here, nuclear war, the afterlife, parallel universes that intertwine somehow. Minds blown sells it short almost.

Some might think having these feelings evoked are not good for us, on the contrary, I would argue it's us experiencing the wonder of this life, in all its contradictions, tensions and challenges. I had a similar reaction to the scene in part 7 when Diane held Gordon, even though when the camera pulled back we saw Gordon not sure quite whether to return the hug, as he'd most likely not seen that side of her before.

I watched this episode with my jaw on the floor. I found myself challenged by NIN and also by the next sequence, on one hand wanting it to stop, on the other lost in the possibility of it. I love the challenge and awestruck wonder of the art of this, the telling of this story by Frost and Lynch is a constant source of nourishment and nurture for our inquisitive minds, and like you, this episode has stayed with me, in fact far longer than any of the others so far. I am still mesmerised by the scenes at the beginning of part 3 where Coop drops into the ultraviolet world. That boundless ocean, which we saw in part 8.

I am looking forward to part 9, but am still luxuriating in part 8 - like no other.

If you feel comfortable enough to answer would you be prepared to share which scene left you in tears? No problem if not.

Thanke you, Colin B, for sharing your thoughts.

Of corse I can tell you witch scene that made me cry, I guess you allready know, because this is a typical crying-scene; the one with the giant floating. It made me feel like home in a way I rearly do in real life, and it also gave me some crystal clear meaning of things in my life in a very metaphoric way. Was like a painful chain-reaction in my subconsciousness.

And the ultra violet world - it gave me something similar. A very interesting place I hope we will see more in future episodes.

Oh no, you're not alone! This was the most intense piece of TV I've ever experienced. I was hypnotyzed, in awe and terrified at the same time, and didn't see time passing at all until the woodmen were stopping cars. And this is a lame simplification, there were so many strong emotions, a few of which language just can't reach.

The first time I saw Eraserhead, it was a midnight movie, and I walked in tired. Kept falling asleep, waking up and looking at the screen, and AAHHGGGG, falling asleep again, walking up, AAHHGGGG....(-;

Yes it was intense. Deep in my mind I feel like I get it, I understand it (just like at the very beggining The Giant gives clues and Cooper for the first time responds with confidence " I understand") yet I cannot find the words to describe it... It's definetely spiritual ride and from viewers' point of view this is a breaking point - should I stay or should I go?

As for me, I stay:) I want more, I don't wanna come off this crazy Lynch/Frost ride-on, I feel like I was brought back home...

You just made me realize that the purple color at the ocean is at the very end of the color scale that we humans can see. Ultra violet (the next color after purple) is invisible to us, as is infrared (but at the other end of the scale). This could signify that this place is (close to) invisible for us humans - I'm pretty sure the color was not chosen at random.

Spiritual?  Not for me.  As I've mentioned before, I'm the least spiritual being in the entire universe.

Did I react emotionally?  In some ways; I felt sorry for the people killed by the Woodsmen, and the girl who got invaded by the FrogRoach.  Most of all, I just absorbed what was happening and enjoyed it on a level I can't really describe.  Normally, when I see something out of the ordinary, I try to work out how they did it or find something wrong with the CG.  Not this time; I disengaged that part and let the images wash over me.

The odd thing for me was that none of the scenes seemed to drag, despite what others have said.  Everything moved at the right pace.

Nope.  Not everything you can't describe is spiritual; it was a complete sensory rewire, a synaesthetic experience.  Nothing spiritual, just chemicals and electricity.
