I've always been a fan of his. But I never realized until the last episode just how incredible he actually is. His role as DougieCoop is heartwarming and funny but what really got me was the DoppleCoop role in episode seven. Never in my entire life have I felt a more realistic portrayal of menace as we saw in the scene with him and Diane. I'm hoping we get more of this. And presumably, as Dougie turns back into Coop, we'll get to see him reprise his former role with much more nuance. I seriously hope he wins an Emmy.
He deserved an Emmy for the original series, to be honest.
But yes, this new series should give him as many awards as he can receive. The only actor I've seen approach his level is Laura Dern in Part 7, and if she keeps this up, both Kyle and Laura will thoroughly deserve Emmys after this series is through. They're both absolutely incredible.
Even David Lynch has surprised me as a much more nuanced Gordon Cole. But ya, Laura Dern!
Both Lynch as Gordon and Ferrer as Albert (RIP) struck me as more nuanced versions of their former roles, yes. Partly because of their roles being much more prominent this time around.
I'm wondering which other parts from the original series will be served even better this time around? I'm kind of hoping Madgekin gets a more prominent role in coming episodes, but I'm not holding my breath.
