Watching only the ending scenes is a shame, and watching combined screen / sound on youtube is also a big shame. To really experience this (and why not!! They have loaded this season with more joy for us than just a straight-forward run-through) you need to get two separate devices and play them side by side. For me, I put my laptop under the screen from my desktop. Two sound sources are very important for the layering to become apparent. I recommend watching 17 & 18 then watching 8 and 18.

Well, when i think of it,  it is not easy to put this story together without doing it in two seperate episodes, it is impossible.

And, one should  also remember, that from the point Laura is saved in the wood, Coop does not any longer know the persons in Twin Peaks, so Lynch has made a difficult piece of work for him self to put together.

I have no time to watch. From the screenshots, let me guess...bis this a theory that episodes 17 and 18 are the same story from two different sides? As in, Evangelion episodes 25-26 were the story of The End of Evangelion as experienced inside the head of the main character? (There was a lot of theorising at the time online, this wasn't the most widely known theory but it makes the most sense to me. I'm starting to wonder if it wasn't MY theory lol.)

Well only end scene is synced, rest is random. But I am happy you found a peace 🙂

If true, then he wasn't even the first one to do it 😉 although it has to be said, hideaki anno has also long been lauded for breaking genre conventions and reinventing anime storytelling; his work on Eva was crucial in rhe years that followed, and Anno is still stuck with fans clamoring for a more conventional story ending to Eva 20 years later...

To me there is syncing throughout all of episode 17 / 18 and all of episode 8 / 18. That does not mean that every shot is timed exactly the same, it means that what's occurring is complementary the whole time and at regular intervals creates an obvious link with what's occurring in each episode, like a commentary or expansion on the other scene.

For instance the atomic explosion starts as Cooper is walking into the hotel reception. The blast carries right up until Cooper and Diane walk into their hotel room. At that point, thje explosion engulfs the screen in episode 8 and action shifts to the inside of the explosion. It starts black and white with white splashes, Cooper says "come to me" and it goes black with white particles, as soon as they start having sex the whole screen in episode 8 turns to flashing bursts of colour. That continues until the sex starts to reach it's climax, Diane starts getting very bothered and some incredibly unpleasant Woodsman / Black Lodge shit is going on in episode 8. Richard wakes up alone and The Experiment gives birth to BOB, who floats right down onto Cooper / Richard's head. etc etc

The future and the past is constantly overlapping in Twin Peaks, and Mr C is not present in that scene with Gordon, Albert and Tammy.

Okay I noticed that this topic is actually an off-shoot from the 'Sync' topic that has currently 6 pages and that I missed during my half-a-week leave.

Now I'm gonna have to read both topics in parallel... Maybe I'll find some stunning similarities between the two! 😉

There's an overlay sync version, as well, which I like even better than the side by side or over/under. Whoever edited it together did a nice job with it.
