When Cooper/Richard stops at Judy's (in Odessa, not in Seattle), there is a fight with the cowboys.
C/R grabs the two guns of the cowboys (two guns with chargers).
When he goes near the fryer, he puts three guns on the kitchen counter.
The third one has a barrel (it looks like a 357 Smith & Wesson).

This was discussed before, this is not a filming mistake.
It's impossible for Lynch to make something like that.

So where this third gun comes from ?

Maybe (?) from another episode.
(Diane-tulpa seems to have a gun like this, but it's a black one)

It maybe was in Anaheim, if we should use the same trackingmethod as in other threads.

But, the tyres were maybe to worn to drive from Anaheim to Odessa, if we should thrust the  pictures of them 😀

There's no error, all three cowboys had guns.  The second one, whom Cooper shot in the foot, was going for his gun and dropped it when Cooper shot him.  As it was framed and edited, the viewer simply didn't see Cooper pick it up when gathering the guns.  It all happens very quickly.  You may fault Lynch's manner of editing, but he has never been a conventional film maker.  His methods are his own.  It seems that he doesn't feel the need to lay everything out for those who look for that sort of thing.

Oh thank you.

I've watched frame by frame and we can see on 2 or 3 frames the 357 gun of the second cowboy.

I noticed that collectively the brain trust here has pointed out several 'errors' throughout the season.  My first inclination is to believe that between the interest (mainly us) and the level of intense review that shows like Twin Peaks receives these are nothing more than common errors which simply go unnoticed on most shows.

However, in the vein of David Lynch, I can't deny the possibility that some, if not most, are the result of intent.  I would not say all, because I simply fail to believe anyone is perfect and errors over roughly 17 hours of film are bound to occur (no matter how good the editing is).

Could very well be a continuity error, but the whole gun-frying scene seemed filmed in a way to be very deliberate.  They wanted very much to show C/R manipulate the fry basket, and place the guns into the oil.  I just can't see how they'd lose count of the guns in this scene, so I'm thinking it's supposed to represent something.  Yet another question to chew on...

He is symbolically subsuming the three parts of his true character - Dougie, Mr. C and Cooper - into one hot mess - Richard!  😉

The third gun belonged to the guy that cooper shot in the foot. That gun went flying up in the air, but we don't see cooper pick it up. That was a rather long tracking shot, and cooper did not stop to pick it up on the way to the fryer. Looks like a continuity error.
